Same crap on the RNY board
All that matters in terms of weight is calories. Period. Carbs, protein, fat, processed food or not - it all doesn't matter - what matters is energy balance.
Over on the RNY board, there are psudeo experts, mostly females, dispensing all sorts of crazy advice based on emotion, anecdotal evidence and their own fears. None of that applies here on the men's forum. Over here, we live in Realsville and deal with science: excess energy consumed gets stored as fat. Burn it or don't eat it in the first place!
I know that used to be what people said. It kind of goesback and forth. Lately, on science sites I've been reading more that each macronutrient is a little different in terms of weight gain. Then, as this article says, there are also genetic factors involved.
