Sorry, I haven't been on here for awhile...Busy with work and such.  So I'm sitting here eating cheese, salami, and crackers...Just a little snack.  Even after 6 years post op (RNY) the fat in the salami taste gross.  Ever since surgery, I like very little fat in my food.  Even 2% milk is too rich for me...Just me.  So how would you say the taste of fat has changed post op for you??  Also what % milk to you use??  Brian

Only milk I can do is in my coffee.  If I drink it - not pretty! devil

Anything too fatty tends to ride like a ton of bricks.

ETA:  Thinking more about it that little bite of fat on a piece of steak that gets charred, but not burnt, on the grill still taste pretty good. kiss

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Bacon seems to be fine for me now and I was struggling mightly with stuff like it a short while back.

"Fried" foods like wings I have not tried in a long time, they REALLY messed with me

Taste...yeah I can taste the fat in things like processed foods, but not quite as much as I used to.

I drink milk only in my Latte (which is 80% milk) and I can run full fat (Whole) without issues...

Brian,

Sorry to say that 3.5 yrs post-op RNY I do not have any issues with fat - at least with the volume that I do eat - 2-4 oz bacon or sausage, 4-6 oz of ground beef, beef steak, or lamb.  No issues with whole dairy.  No early or late dumping with simple carbs either.

So, I have to be ever watchful so that I do not slip into bad habits with too much bad food.

Hey Brian...I have found not only does fat taste different, but many foods do. Specifically for fat, it does not taste great so I do what I can not to include it in my diet.

Yours in WLS Journey,

Bill Mac
