Hey guys, just wondering if any of you guys have taken to lifting weights and getting ripped after WLS. If so what supplements do you use, or had successes with. Anything that people who had WLS shouldn't use etc. Feel free to share routines and results.

Sorry, can't help you.  You may want to try the Exercise and Fitness Forum here at OH...

I will say that the weight lifting part of Cross Fit is incredible!!  I am getting RIPPED for sure, but it is still pretty well hidden under my the remaining fat and loose skin.

More Spiderman looking fit than Superman or Hulk for sure, strong "slim" muscles and more toning than bulk.

I have adjusted my diet (just this week) and starting to see the scale inch back down again, it had crept as high as 208, down to 202 this morning.

At some point I was fed the line that we (RNY) will never be able to regain the muscle we had prior to WLS but I am calling BS on that.  It is a matter of exercise AND protein.

Final thought...."ripped" as in Ahnuld is likely not to happen without surgery.  (And usually those folks are dehydrated to show off max skin tightness)  So I may never look all that ripped with my shirt OFF... I am getting tighter and fitter with my compression shirt and that is all that matters to me at the moment.

I am 4 years post op from RNY and I have taken to working out and lifting. No matter what I do, I am stuck at 250. It ****** me off! I have been at 250 for probably 2 years now. I work out up to 3 hours a day doing lifting, cardio, circuit, running, etc. I have had surgery to remove loose skin, and I focus on protein. The scale has started to go up to 260, but when that happens, it scares the heck out of me and I start to diet down again. I still have a layer of fat that I need to get off, but it is taking forever to come off.

Yes, I did. But I'm 51 and my family history is one resistant to all sorts of things, so I decided...as long as I'm on the thin side, I'll let fate take over. It's not worth worrying about any more. Not that I've had any problems YET.
