Morning Men!

My Stats:

High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Weight at surgery 4-23-12: 230
Last week: 177
This week: 177
Total weight lost: 92
Body Fat 14%

I hope today finds everyone happy and healthy. I am happy today because just this morning my wife and I recovered one of our cats that had been missing for a month. He is a strictly indoor cat that I had accidentally let out one morning on my way to work. We had one major blizzard, very cold weather and several lighter snowfalls while he was gone and although we hate to admit it we were losing hope we would get him home. So, today we are celebrating!

My weight is flatline for the week, up a couple pounds from my lowest weight. While our cat was gone I admit I was down and not feeling like exercise or eating right... I had told myself it was time to get back into my routine even though doing so meant moving on from the loss... guess I can return to my routine in earnest now.

For those who are cat people or pet people in general I am sure you understand... Those who never grew attached to an animal, thanks for listening!

Carry on, see you next week.

Brian

Hi Guys,

The Numbers:
346: All time high 7/1/10 - BMI = 52
326: Tufts Medical Center, Surgery 12/27/10 BMI=49
196: Weigh In 2/24/13
195: This Week 3/3/13 -->Down 1 lb BMI=29
150: Total Weight Loss

Well, got some more movement on the scale! I am happy to be under 200 in the onderland area. My overall goal as I am now clearly in maintenance is to stay under 200. Aside from that it is to try to do on a daily basis the following: 64 oz water, Mindfully Eat, and Exercise.

Exercise has been good. I am into my 10th week training for a race in March 17th. Today I did a long run of 13 miles and felt really great...getting excited about my 1st 1/2 Marathon on 3/17/13. I am so very happy to have rekindled my passion for exercising as I have always been active, but alot harder to do at 350 rather than 200!!

Have a great week all!!! angry

Yours in WLS Journey,

Bill Mac

Yes sir it is a GREAT day!!

Glad your kitty came home.  I'm a "dog" person.  Some of my ex-GF's will tell you that too!! Know I will be decimated when my little dog goes across the bridge to wait on me.  She's 12.5 years old and has some health issues but like to think she still has a few good years left in her.

My number showed back up on the scales!!!  Had upped the walking and put the carbs back in the pantry.  Living right I guess.

Item last - went to local Home Depot this morning to pick up some heavy duty shelving units to assemble for the store room so we can get Jan's extra crap off the floor.  Bad enough she brought some more back with her his trip but with all afternoon to go we might see the floor again!!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Hi Guys... It has been a good week.

I still worry about finding a good plateau. I thought it was 180, my body decided ( I hope ) it's 170. Wish I could exercise to get this flabby body toned up, but with COPD I can't.  If anyone knows how to get the extra skin and man boobs off without surgery ( too much $$$ ) or exercise, let me know.

Have a good week and don't forget to bring the cat in.

@Brain, yeah the fur babies either of the feline or canine variety do become full-fledged members of the family.  As such it is a traumatic experience when we lose them.

@Bill Mac, awesome progress!  I wished my knees could stand a half marathon but a 5K is about all I can stand.

@Don, yep, the scales don’t lie.  Good luck with your “some assembly required” project.  Three words that I dread to hear from the wife.

@Daniel, my friend I hate to tell you but surgery-less excess skin tightening does not exist.  Toning muscles helps reduce the jiggle but having 20+ lbs of excess skin will not magically disappear.  I’ve reconciled to this fact.  I would recommend that you have your PCP document every medical issue including rash, abrasion, etc. that could be attributed to the excess skin.  With that documented you may have a shot at getting insurance to pay for at least a pannectomy.

    My stats this week:

           High weight:  392 lbs
Pre-op Weight 4 Aug 09:  377.5 lbs
Last week:  217.4 lbs / 20.0% body fat / 165.4 lbs muscle mass
This week:  217.4 lbs / 19.6% body fat / 166.2 lbs muscle mass

My overall weight this week is status quo with almost 1 lb increase in muscle mass.  I made it to the gym 4 days this week.

Beautiful day today in Middle Georgia – sunny and 57°F though March has arrived as a lion with lows in the 20s and strong wind gusts.  Hopefully, it will tame down a bit to allow some off road biking.

Be safe & have a great week gentlemen!

I haven't posted in the past couple of weeks. I've been so busy. Frankly, I've been plateaued anyway. The plateau broke this week. I hope you all are experiencing decent weather and that your health is great.

321 9/21/11 RNY Surgery Day

202-203 this morning I forget which!!  It has been about the same for a while now.

Starting week 3 of CrossFit!  2 weeks ago I was in BAD shape after that first workout, today was a good day and I came in 1st of 3 for our WOD.

Def. not as strong as I "should" be, I was doing 45 pounds vs the 65-75 recommended for guys.  (Barbell, lift up over head, back onto shoulders, squat, down to ground, repeat... 5 times.  For FIVE rounds... so 25 reps all told.)  Then box jumps, situps, run backwards 100' and then start over.

AMAZED at how quickly the body recovers now!!  I may start running some as it gets warmer here in NC, last year I started my 5k training in April.  I think I want to do a 10k, maybe even build up to 1/2 marathon?

I would train for a TRI, but I really don't have any good places to train swimming... (open water)

Morning everyone,

Things have been good in the past couple of weeks. I'm still loosing at a fair pace. My foot drop has been getting better. I would say my right foot has almost recovered 100%. Who knew crossing your legs would cause foot drop. I had never heard of it. I saw my nutritionist last week (9 month post op check). My numbers looked good and she was pleased. She said I'd lost 82% of my excess weight, so I would be considered a success even if I didn't loose any more weight. All I can say is "what a journey" ! On a lighter note, just for fun, I tried on my old service class a jacket. It fit ! It's moments like this that tell me things have really changed. The weight comes off so fast that my mind needs to catch up.

Have a great week everyone !

Hi Don,

I'll see what I can do. I've had problems posting pictures in the forum pages. I've been able to load pics to my profile but for some reason when I try to post to the forum only the link appears. I bought a mac the last time and I'm still getting used to it. I'll take some new pic's and post them there.

Take care ,,,, CJ
