Never under estimate the value of the morning big ol' nasty stinky! kiss

Had a bear of a day at work yesterday.  All day had been a "sleeper" then all stupidity erupted right about the time I was suppose to go off duty.  I'll take the OT money.  Worked yesterday so I can have Tuesday off.  The betrothed and I are taking a little road trip to Louisiana when she gets home this afternoon.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

No Man Is An Island

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

John Donne (1572 – 1631), English poet

This poem conveys the sense of community that I hope we all feel when loss occurs.  Today, my thoughts and prayers are with Dan and his family as they deal with the loss of his wife.

    My stats this week:

           High weight:  392 lbs
Pre-op Weight 4 Aug 09:  377.5 lbs
Last week:  215.2 lbs / 20.1% body fat / 163.6 lbs muscle mass
This week:  213.8 lbs / 20.7% body fat / 161.0 lbs muscle mass

I’m down another 1.4 lbs this week but in muscle mass which is not good.  I made it to the gym 5 days this week, but not the bike trails.  Between being hectic at work and the rain, this past week was not conducive to biking.  I’ve been pushing myself cardio-wise in the gym lately prepping for a 5K next Saturday.  Maybe that is why my muscle mass has diminished over the past few weeks?

This morning we awoke to 24°F temps.  General Beauregard Lee definitely called it right for 6 more weeks of winter here in Georgia.

Be safe & have a great week gentlemen!

-Mike

Are you basing the loss of muscle mass on your scale at home?  If so, they are easily effected by various factors, mine tends to jump between 25-26% on any given day which is 3-4 pounds difference.  I have even seen it go down 2-3% further on occasion, but they are still good overall to track wellness.

That being said, if you were working the weights and then backed off, you will see a gradual decline as you don't work those particular muscle groups as much.

Great progress and good luck on the 5k!

Thanks Sam!

Yeah, I haven't been able to do much weight training for the past 5 months due to tendonitis of the left arm.  Prior to that I was doing 1 hr weight training 2 days per week.  Since Oct 1st, my top muscle mass was 169.4 lbs and the low is 161.0 lbs this past Sunday.  Over the past 5 months, Body Fat has been 19-21% and Body Water has been 55-58%.

Hi Everyone,

Its been about six weeks since my last post. I'm down six pounds. The weight loss has slowed considerably. I'm nine months out and am very pleased with my progress. I think we can beat ourselves up sometimes because we feel we could have done better. I know I could have done better but I'm still ok with that. I'll just keep trying harder.

Have a great week everyone,

CJ

Ok, so this morning was the FIRST day of CrossFit training and I can tell why these are some of the fittest people on the planet.  15:33 later and I am DONE.  I barely make it up the stairs at home, think seriously about needing a chair in the shower.

My personal record shortest shower ever, shampoo, shave and out... and had to lay down on the bed for about 30 minutes to recover.  Legs did not want to hold me going back down the stairs and are still feeling "trembly" (which is a technical term I am sure)

WHY?  Well, I have seen that scale stay the same / creep up slightly even from my lowest ever day at 195.  I have been running 201-203 over the last two months or so and started looking for a good total body workout solution.

I will keep you updated as I move forward, combining the new exercise with watching my diet and leaning "Paleo" with my eating choices, which really is what we are supposed to be doing anyway.  Lots of good lean proteins, veggies, little fruit, no sugars/breads, etc.

My goals are:

To do my first ever un-assisted chin up!!!

To get under 200 and stay there...not really going for any specific goal but based on my fat % scale at 25-26% I think I have a good 20+ pounds of fat I could lose.

Be able to pass the Army PT test for my age group!  (Eventually I want to pass the Marine PT test for my age)

STATS:

355 on 8/1/11 Beginning of program

321 RNY surgery day 9/21/11

This morning, 203...

Hi Guys,

The Numbers:
346: All time high 7/1/10 - BMI = 52
326: Tufts Medical Center, Surgery 12/27/10 BMI=49
199: Weigh In 2/10/13
198: This Week 2/21/13 -->Down 1 lb BMI=29
148: Total Weight Loss

Late post this week. I was with my family on a mini Family Vacation in NH from Sunday to today. VERY  Happy about the numbers this week as I was doing some grazing while on vacation, so to have a 1 pound loss is terrific!

Exercise is good. I am into my 8th week training for a race in March. As I mentioned I was on family vacation in NH. I ran on Tuesday an Wednesday in VERY cold weather and literally on ice!!!  Still, the main thing is I did it. Today, we got home and I was very happy to run inside on a treadmill and did 6 miles in under 60 minutes!!!!! I am so thankful for having had WLS as I am feeling more confident every day I will be able to complete my 1st 1/2 Marathon on 3/17.

Thanks for all the great posts, I love reading them and sharing this journey with a great bunch of guys!

Have a good week guys....

Yours in WLS Journey,

Bill Mac
