Hi Fellas!

Here in the Northeast of the US we got slammed with an epic snowstorm Friday night into Saturday... I got my exercise in by digging out for 12 solid hours yesterday! I hope none of my WLS brethren are suffering without power or other hardship this morning. My fruit trees and Dogwood got hit hard, I hope they recover.

Back down 3 this week. Don't know what is up with the wild swings in weight... My diet has been consistent more or less, maybe it is just par for the course? I am thankful every day for this life-saving surgery, the hard physical demands I put on my body are a breeze compared to a year ago.

Have a routine colonoscopy coming up and my doc wants a sleep study to make sure my stopping use of the CPAP is advisable... other than that, full speed ahead!

Be well my brothers, until next week, Brian

Digging snow for 12 hours sounds like a hell of a work out by itself!

Did a round trip yesterday to one of Jan's great nieces' birthday gatherings in Conroe.  It was at a riding stable and they had rented a couple ponies to lead the kids around on.  No biggie.  I could not resist trying a piece of the multi-colored, multi-layered cake and a small scoop of ice cream.  Bad Don!  I did not have projectile vomiting but had one hell of a dumping episode with all it entails about the time we were leaving.  Jan had to drive cause I was feeling so bad and she did not want me wrecking us out.  Nice to know that at almost five years everything is still working like it was designed and I paid for it to do!

As you were.

ETA:  Brian, I hope they get the right apparatus for each of your test!  Have to go see cardio this week myself.  Follow up to last months excursion to ICU.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

For all those in the Northeast my thoughts and prayers are with you this morning as you dig out of a historic snowstorm.  Please be safe and prepare for the next one.

@Brian, wow – a 12 hour workout shoveling snow might have something to do with a 3 lb loss.  Good luck with the exams this week.  Hope you pass with flying colors!

@Don, for the non-RNYer it may seem somewhat sadistic in getting reassuring comfort from pain, but I understand exactly where you’re coming from.

    My stats this week:

           High weight:  392 lbs
Pre-op Weight 4 Aug 09:  377.5 lbs
Last week:  217.8 lbs / 19.7% body fat / 166.4 lbs muscle mass
This week:  215.2 lbs / 20.1% body fat / 163.6 lbs muscle mass

I’m down 2.6 lbs this week but in muscle mass which is not good.  I made it to the gym 4 days this week, but not the bike trails.  Work has been too hectic to allow time for biking during daylight.

Rain with a possibility of some severe weather is forecasted for most of this coming week in Middle Georgia but at least we will not have the challenges that the Northeast has with snow.  This front coming through this week is supposed to leave snow in the Midwest and more snow for the Northeast.  So, don’t put away the snow shovels yet!

Be safe & have a great week gentlemen!

-Mike

Afternoon guys

My numbers

High weight: 348
Weight at surgery 1-29-12 300
Last week: 176

This week: 175
Total weight lost: 173 lbs

Hope you guys from the NE are doing ok... 3 straight days of snow here, but only about 3-5 inches on the ground.  I went to the doctors 3 times last week... Bone spur which tore my left rotor cup. Have to have eye lid surgery and I got intimate with my doctor's index finger.  Glad it's almost over.  I sound like my grandpa...  Weather and ailments.

Still going steady with the weight and so happy with the decision we all made.

Till next time

Daniel

My favorite day of the week....Sunday Weigh In. There was a period not too long ago when I dreaded to weigh in at all. It is great to be excited about these numbers again and the way I feel.

I hope you all in the northeast are okay up there. Shoveling for that many hours must suck, but it does add to the workout for the week, I'm just not sure I would want to do it just to be able to get out of my driveway. Hope it subsides soon.

Good Evening,

The Numbers:
346: All time high 7/1/10 - BMI = 52
326: Tufts Medical Center, Surgery 12/27/10 BMI=49
201: Weigh In 2/3/13
199: This Week 2/10/13 -->Down 2 lb BMI=29
147: Total Weight Loss

Happy about the numbers this week. I Have been eating better and exercising more consistently. For example, been maintaining 1800 calories, 80 g protein and trying to get at least 64 oz water daily. I have to be honest, I have a goal of 190, but being within 5 pounds above or below 200 is GREAT with me after having been 350 pounds for a LONG time!

Exercise is good. I am going into my 6th week training for a race in March. Today, I had a long run so did 10 miles!!!!! I am so thankful for having had WLS as I don't think I ever ran 10 miles in a YEAR let alone in one run!!!

Thanks for all the great posts, I love reading them and sharing this journey with a great bunch of guys!

Have a good week guys....

Yours in WLS,

At time of 6mo monitoring = 358 (9/2011)

Day of surgery = 328.8 (4/2012)

Current = 235

I was SICK....dog sick last week and ended up losing 5 lb(I was due for a drop anyway)  I have been holding at 235 now for the second week so I think it is going to stick.  I have 5lb to go to reach my initial goal of 230lb!!
