Anybody else not getting sick since RNY?
Mr. Murphy kicked my ass a few days ago. I don't remember ever having a could like this one...flat kicked my but.
Highest Weight 06/2011 = 370
Weight at Surgery 04/11/2012 = 328.8
Goal Weight = 230
I have been toying with the RNY decision for quite a while now, but I finally bit the bullet and my surgery is scheduled for 3/26/13. However, prior to this I have been taking a multi-vitamin and extra vitamin C for a couple of years now and I rarely get sick. When I do, it's usually much less than what everyone else had. With all the extra vitamins and better health overall, I would say that your observation is spot on.

Congrats on your decision! It is always possible to out-eat the RNY with simple carbs, but if you're determined to limit those and exercise you have the potential to lose to a normal or even thin weight.
I saw that again this month. I was enjoying a couple of glasses of wine at night and went up about 4 lbs over three months (rest of the day is mostly protein shake (over 4-6 hours, lots of water and cecao powder) and chicken salad with vegetables.
All I had to do was stop the wine and the 4 lbs. started coming off. RNY puts the brakes on weight gain and hunger in a lot of ways.
Not sure if it's the vitamins, because as I mentioned above, I've always taken vitamins, exercised and had a balance of food, including vegetables. Seems that there's something else in the equation, perhaps the nutrition combined with a different insulin and ghrelin balance, lower blood sugar (also dropped 8-10 points to around 80) or maybe better gut bacteria.
Everything is different now. OH! Then there's the loss of stress from being able to lose weight and keep it off. Looks like we all for got that one. That is a biggie.
Good Luck,
Dave
I never had allergies before surgery and since I do. It's not necessarily surgery related but I guess it could be. I sometimes confuse the symptoms with a cold. I have had flu like symptoms once in the 7+ years since surgery but rarely had the flu before surgery anyway. During my 404 day running streak (at least a mile but a 3+ average) I never had any sickness or injuries. As soon as I stopped, I felt like crap for a month!
