Hello everyone, It has been awhile since i have posted. Its a new year and time to get back into it. Life is good... no complaints. I usually can make it to the gym at least 3 if not 5 times a week. I need to pick up the pace some but I enjoy going there so it is just a matter of focusing.
Time to lose that last 25 lbs or so. The wife says I should be done but we all know how that is. The areas I need to lose it I know are the hardest.
And yes the gym this time of the year is busier than usually but there is a good mix of people.....and yes eye candy is a reason to bring a smile to your face. I just want to know when I got so damn old.....:) All those damn youngsters...you know those born in the 70 and 80's.....
Hope everyone has a great week!!!
Lee

@Brian, great job! It’s amazing that when we take the right actions we are successful.
@Tim, I hear you brother about holiday down-time. Something to ponder when considering day-to-day weight gain is that when building muscle, glycogen replenishment requires 4 lbs of water for every lb of glycogen. We have about 2 lbs of glycogen. So, your weight can vary widely from day-to-day when working out hard. As far as extra calories are concerned, the law of conservation of energy states what we don’t burn or excrete gets stored.
@Don, ditto for the head cold and weather.
@Daniel, keep the snow but the soup sounds good.
@Bill Mac, we all need to keep our batteries recharged – physically, mentally, and spiritually.
@Bill & @Lee, welcome back! Every day is a new day for success.
I was off work another week and between the holiday and taking a bad cold, I made it to the gym only twice this week. Having too much free time indoors led to boredom led to grazing led to +2 lbs. Going back to work tomorrow will lead to a better week. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate so that I can get in some off-road biking.
It is amazing how the gym activity changes with the calendar. The 1st Monday after New Year’s Day is the worst. Then by Friday the numbers drop a little. Then by the last Friday in January, I again have the pick of any machine I want.
We are all creatures of habit. It takes 60 days of repetitive behavior to form a habit. Being able to rearrange your time priorities to dedicate to your physical fitness is the key. Having the support of your family in setting aside that time for you is so important to your long term success.
Have a great week gentlemen!
-Mike

Hi All,
I already posted my weigh in today. However, wanted to say thanks to you all for sharing in this journey of weight maintenance with me. All of your posts make me reflect on my own experience, where I am currently, and where I want to go!
In particular, nice to see some posts for those who have had some struggles....reminds me that anything worth having is WORTH struggling for!
Be Well!

Hi Guys,
It's been a very long time since my last post. I'm now just over three years post op. I'm still very happy with my decision, but in the past 6 months I've noticed I've been falling into some bad habits again (grazing, infrequent exercise, drinking with my meals, etc).
Tons of good things have happened too, but it's just time to refocus and posting here is one of those ways.
