Oh thank god.....

I was on the RNY general forum and was getting sick of hearing about people getting their feelings hurt by a random customer / friend/ or whatever. I'm doing the pre-op dance right now and have about 10 lbs left to loose before they can schedule me for the RNY.

I'm struggling with my pre-op diet for breakfast..... eating mostly hard boiled eggs and Greek yogurt. Any ideas for easy/quick breakfasts?

Carlton-

Welcome to the men's forum, where menses, estrogen and soap opera drama take a back seat. Lots of support on here when you need it- just ask!

As for breakfast ideas, I have a ritual breakfast recipe I will share- it's called a breakfast frittatta. You'll need-

A skillet with high temp or metal handle

Any leftovers in your fridge- and I mean anything!

Fresh vegs, including but not limited to : onion, pepper, mushroom, garlic, broccoli, beans etc. you get the picture

Vegetable spray oil (like Pam)'

Egg beaters or equivalen/t favorite herbs, spices, rubs,  hot sauce, etc/. shredded cheese: low fat cheddar, crumbled blue, mozzarella, etc

Set oven broiler on high, skillet  on high on stove top, spray bottom of pan generously, add fresh vegs and stir. Add anything else you can find in the fridge, meat first, then fish, chicken cubed up into bite size pieces.

Continue to spray around the inside perimeter of the pan until things start really cooking- use a spatula to arrange items to be included in the eventual portions (spread stuff out so you get a little something in every bite)

Pour egg beaters in a circular motion around the perimeter of the pan and half-cover the ingredients with the egg stuff

shake the pan back and forth a few times to settle the eggs to the bottom, turn heat to medium, spread cheese evenly over the top, kinda like a pizza

Throw the whole pan in the oven and cook the cheese until almost brown (see kinda like pizza above)

remove and let it settle for a few minutes. Cut wedge portions appropriate for individual servings Do not eat with bread, toast or potatoes, protein only

save the rest for tomorrow and the next day as appropriate

repeat as necessary

Just sayin'

Howdy Carlton!

Any ideas for easy/quick breakfasts?  There is always IHOP or Denny's!

I'm partial to either a poached egg or eggs scrambled hard.  If it is the least but runny - the egg ain't the only runny thing!!  Usually have part of a breakfast ham steak with it or drop some shredded cheese on top.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Good tip on the yolks.... I don't want to live on the John after having my insides rearranged.

Carlton, no disrespect intended just some FYI.  You may not want to live on Mr. Crapper but you and him may find yourselves spending A LOT of time together in the beginning.

I had a feeling that I would be spending some time on the porcelain, but I certainly want to reduce the time as much as I can!

Hi Carlton,

Whatever you choose for breakfast, be sure to eat it. Lot of folks skip it but it sets them up for a day of hunger, which is not good for us. However, just my two cents the greek yogurt, hb eggs are good starters as they are high in protein which is a goal to strive for.

Best of Luck,

Yours in WLS,

Bill Mac

Carlton!!!

Glad you made it over here!! Be sure to make your breakfast, whatever it is, a priority because after RNY it is even more important for us RNY'ers to get that nourishment in the morning because right after surgery we're taking in so few calories they need to be quality ones and your ass will drag all day until you get something in your body. Lots of good advice on here from guys that have been down this road.
Good luck on those last 10!

I agree with Stoney... eat a good breakfast and start your day off right.  Being an RNY'er myself, if I don't get some good protein in at the start of my day my butt is draggin' all day long!

I usually do an omelet or fritatta egg dish.  Eggs really give that good protein start.  Check around for some bariatric recipe sites, and look for new ways to fix eggs to help keep it from getting too boring.
