Hi Gents!

My Stats:

High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Weight at surgery 4-23-12: 230
Last week: 177
This week: 175
Total weight lost: 95
Body Fat 14%

Good Morning all,

Hope today finds everybody happy and healthy. We are finally through with the nasty weather here on the east coast and are enjoying a few days of the good stuff. It is time to start chasing the leaves around the yard and put away the patio furniture.

I am down 2 lbs this week. I had made a new resolution to count all my food and averaged 1300 cals a day. I also made it to the gym 3 of those days. My body fat has dropped from 17% to 14% and I feel fantastic other than being a little tired... I've been working way too much!

I had another instance of somebody who had not seen me in awhile hesitating to ask about my weight loss because they thought I had been sick... I always like the reaction when i say I lost close to 100 lbs. on purpose, the look of relief on their faces is priceless!

Till next week, have a good one,

Brian

The morning "big ol' nasty stinky" was my friend today.  Bought me .4 of a pound from when I first weighed this morning.

Won or lost I'm glad the election is over.  Was getting sick and tired of the BS and the mudslinging and that was just locally!

To the brethren on the  East Coast hang in there.  The lights come back on eventually.  It may be cold up there but you're not dealing with triple digit temps without AC!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Morning!   Maintaining within parameters again this week- even though I bottomed out in May, I still have to pinch myself sometimes to remember that this is for real. The compliments are starting to get old, but I remain gracious in my attitude and replies. I had dinner with the wife at the bar in one of our hangouts the other night and got into the weight loss surgery topic ( which she instigated) with complete strangers. I was more into my crab cakes than conversation and I tried to remain aloof while the questions were being shot at me. I have to admit it was a little awkward, even though I have had the similar cir****tance happen several times in the past year or so. I still keep my old drivers license in my wallet to raise an eyebrow and it never fails.

I got an 8 miler in this morning- the knee tweaked a little on mile 6, but I was able to grind it out and get home. Running on pavement has it's rewards, but being miles from home and feeling like you have to limp while running isn't one of them.

Pats and Bills at 1:00, laundry and chores, busy work week and I'm good to go.  That is all, Good luck!!

For all you Veterans, I appreciate the service and sacrifice that you and your families have rendered to ensure the freedom that I and my family enjoy each day.  May God bless you and our great country.

We live in the land of the free BECAUSE of the brave!

    My stats this week:

           High weight:  392 lbs
Pre-op Weight 4 Aug 09:  377.5 lbs
Last week:  212.6 lbs / 20.1% body fat / 161.4 lbs muscle mass
This week:  215.8 lbs / 19.4% body fat / 165.4 lbs muscle mass

I’m up again 3.2 lbs this week but thankfully due to muscle not fat according to the body composition scale.  Surprised since I stopped strength training 3 weeks ago for tennis elbow to heal and only had 1 day of gym cardio this week due to being sick with upper respiratory infection.  I really hope the body composition scale is correct.

Have a great week guys!

Mike

292 this morning.

I have my surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning.

I'm also part of the the Cleveland Clinic Stampede substudy, so in addition to a gastric bypass they will put a feeding tube into my remnant stomach so they can do some additional tests on how this surgery cures diabetes in so many people.

If anyone is curious I can provide more details.

Really looking forward to getting through this.

Good Evening,

The Numbers:
346: All time high 7/1/10 - BMI = 52
326: Tufts Medical Center, Surgery 12/27/10 BMI=49
198: Weigh In 11/4/12
199: This Week 11/11/12 -->Up 1 lb BMI=29
147: Total Weight Loss

OK-Does anyone in maintenance ever feel like a Yo Yo?  I am closing in on my 2 year Surgiversary, and In looking over my stats for the last 6 months I go up and down alot. However it is normally either 3 pounds over/under 200. In light of the fact that I started this journey at 346...I will take it EVERY DAY!!!!

This past week did a pretty good job at being in terms of eating. I generally eat about 1800 calories a day and 80 g protein.  I think that is pretty good for where I am at. Still, curious how much other folks eat in terms of calories/proteins...Any Input?? A good example was today. We had dinner with family at an Italian Restaurant. I had a piece of Italian Bread, salad, some Veal Parm and some pasta. Then, shared a grape nut pudding with my wife. Have not eaten since I have been full!

In terms of exercise, I ran a 5 mile Turkey Trot today. Finished in a pretty good time of 43:20 and felt great.  I think the key for me to keep my weight stable is exercie, which I love to do!!

Hope all of you have a nice week...

Yours in WLS,
Bill Mac

Bill,

Yep, same here.  I'm 3+ yrs post-op.  Last month I finally got back down to my low wt @ 18 months.  At 2 yrs had gained 15 & have lost back the 15 by losing 3 gaining 2 losing 3 gaining 2.  In Sept, finally got a body composition scale to measure body fat.  I "believe" that my body fat has decreased consistently over the past year though I didn't have the scale to measure it.  Hopefully, now I will have a better idea of what really is happening.

Keep the faith & keep working the program - striving to eat healthy (-ier) and exercise.

Good luck!
Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the response!! Glad to see I am not the only one going through the ups and downs during maintenance. It can be challenging as at the beginning it was just lose, lose, and lose some more!!  I may have to invest in that body composition scale to get a clearer idea of my body fat.

Glad to hear all is well...thanks again!
