Hi Gents!

My Stats:

High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Weight at surgery 4-23-12: 230
Last week: 176
This week: 177
Total weight lost: 92
Body Fat 17%

Interesting factoid: This morning in the US we set our clocks back for Daylight Savings Time... Thinking it was a USA only thing I did some research and found that it is practiced in over 70 countries world-wide and was first conceptualized by Ben Franklin back in the 1700s...  You learn something new every day!

I hope those of u**** by Sandy came out OK... For myself, I lost some limbs and it was miserable for a few days but no real harm done. I am 1/4 mile from the water but it is a protected harbor, local flooding but no big surf. Call me lucky!

Up another pound this week, had only 1 gym visit, sloppy with the food choices... must stop slacking or I will really lose ground here! Send me strength!

Surgery: 5/17/10
This week: 196.4 lb
Total lost: 210.6 lb

I'm still far ahead, but I'm getting concerned that my natural metabolism is being vengeful. I've had no real changes in diet or exercise, but I'm on the increase to the tune of about a pound a week. This week, by Wednesday, I was down to 193, and yet this morning I'm at an all time high since surgery of 196. The honeymoon is over, and I'm worried that I may have married a ***** I know it may be a crazy thought, but I realize that a person's body eventually compensates for the loss of nutrition by becoming more efficient in how it uses what is being digested and can actually adjust the digestion process to protect itself from what it thinks is starvation. I'm starting to wonder if my body has become so efficient and made such compensations that ill need to make more diet modifications to maintain.

I'm going to try a complete food log his week and try to look at my intake objectively. I know I can make some cuts, I need to see what that is before it gets too late. I'm somewhat angry because I feel like I've given up a lot, and deny myself the things that I loved. And, many of the things I enjoyed actually make me physically sick to eat even in small quantities. This has been a very tough couple of months mentally, and even when I think I have the mental challenges under control I've found new scale issues to slap me in the face.

I try not to ***** but this has been frustrating. Thanks for the ear, guys. I'll try to be more positive next time!

No problemo Ken... This is the mind game they don't tell you about! I feel like I am only slipping in my diet a little bit but gaining almost every week... Once I calm down I realize I am not following the plan and must resolve to do better... Gym time and cutting out the garbage will be the key for me. I am bored to tears with my standard foods, hungry all the time, and the junk is just too accessible! I'll help you if you help me... Good resolve to count... I am starting again today and I think I will be shocked at what I am getting in... Keep me posted on your week.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for sharing you are doing.  I too have struggled over the last few months. I had gotten down to 195 but then went up to 205. I try to be consistent in terms of diet and exercise, but being close to two years out I too wonder if my body is fighting me to go back up in body weight. As such, I try to be realistic and know that the key is VIGILANCE. On a daily basis I try to do the following: Drink 64oz water; keep calories under 1800; keep goal of 80 g protein; and exercise for at least 1 hr. a day. As we ALL know this is not easy, but I try my best. Also, keep in mind your success...200 pounds lost...think of that, it is simply awe inspiring.

Best,

Bill Mac

Good Evening,

The Numbers:
346: All time high 7/1/10 - BMI = 52
326: Tufts Medical Center, Surgery 12/27/10 BMI=49
202 Last Weigh In 10/28/12
198: This Week 11/4/12 -->Down 5 lb BMI=29
148: Total Weight Loss

OK-Very Happy to see the number go down, especially to be under 200. I have recommited to mindful eating and it showed on the scale. Still, more than the scale, I am happy that I was able to refocus my efforts as it always a challenge.

This past week did a pretty good job at being sure to have a more concerted effort to eat better. I did some snacking at Halloween, but overall did a pretty good job on mindfully eating. A good example wad dinner last nite. I went to dinner with my wife and two kids. Me and my son shared a meal and my wife and daughter shared one as well. We were all very satisfied, plus it was inexpensive!!!!

As noted last week, ran my 1st 10K last week in a time of 57:45 so was happy about that. This past week ran 3 times at 5 miles each time. Truly amazing for a guy who never ran before....love it!

Hope all of you have a nice week...

Yours in WLS,
Bill Mac

Welcome to "Century City"! angry (Men's board speak for "onederland")

I do hope folks take voting to heart and how serious every vote can be.  I'm not going to delve into politics in on this forum - that ain't what we are about here.   IMHO this country is at a cross road it has never stood at before in it's history.  This election will make it or break it

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
