I AM LOOKING FOR JUST PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND WHAT WE GO THROUGH ON A DAILY BASIS IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE AND HOW OUR LIVES HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY OUR WEIGHT. MY PLAN IS TO LOSE ENOUGH WEIGHT IN 1 YEAR TO GO SKYDIVING AND THEN TAKE A TRIP ON A PLANE AND ONLY TAKE UP 1 SEAT. I AM 42 YEARS OLD AND HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF LIVING LIKE THIS.

Hey Chris, welcome newbie. First, I wish your wish your wife well and a speedy recovery from her surgery coming up. I have many family and friends that have had to deal with diabetes and it is not easy to live with. Congrats at being 15 days out on your low carb eating plan. I know it is not easy, but I want to encourage you to hang with it and may you have great success with it.
I had my sleeve surgery almost 11 months ago and my wife had hers 6 weeks ago. We both are doing great and it has been the best decision we ever made for ourselves. It is amazing how much our lives have changed for the good in such a short amount of time. I never had any regrets and my wife is happy with the choices she has made as well. I wish you and your wife the best. I don't know why someone would want to jump out of a perfect flying plane, but good luck with your skydiving adventure. Keep us posted on how that goes.

Chris, welcome to the site.  I started out around the same weight as you this time last year but was not diabetic.  Thus far I am down almost 120lb and loving life again.  Diabetic runs rampant in my family and I did not want to go down that path.  Post here often and there are no dumb questions, these guys are a great resource and motivation.  Good luck on your Skydiving!!

P.S. My journey has been chronicled in my pictures and blog link below if you are interested.

Chris,

Good Luck to both you and your wife.

I was an out of control type 2 diabetic. I had my blood sugar tested at the doctors office at over 500. They told me I should be dead. I also had heart problems, high Cholesterol and a severe lung condition. I  had tried everything to loose the weight and I always failed. Finally in a last desperation attempt, I had WLS at the end of January 2012. I had been as high as 348 and as of today I am 180. I feel like stopping heavy people on the street to share the gospel of WLS. ( I don't )  My only regret is not doing this in my 30's instead of my late 50's. I am in better shape since my 20's     ** Daniel
