Ten months out
I was wondering what some of you all have done when you seem to be losing focus. I feel like some of my old habits are slowing creeping back in. I can eat pretty much what I want. I know the short answer is suck it up walk away go work out. It's an excuse but that seems easier said than done just a little frustrated
This is a lifelong marathon - not a sprint. We all struggle at times. The WLS gives you an edge to help you be successful in replacing your old habits with new ones that are more healthful. Be honest with yourself when you do make bad choices and redouble your resolve to do better tomorrow. As much as you can make it more "difficult" for you to make bad choices by avoiding the opportunities to make them.
Some pearls of WLS wisdom that I try to follow:
- don't have bad food choices in the house;
- don't go to all-you-can-eat restaurants;
- do take your vitamin & mineral supplements daily;
- do weigh & log every thing you put in your mouth daily;
- do read labels & focus on protein rich foods;
- do measure & log your body weight weekly (same day & time);
- do eat 3 meals + 1 snack at about the same time every day;
- do drink a minimum of 64 oz water daily;
- do exercise 6 days per week (mix of both cardio & strength training); and
- do stay connected to a support system & let yourself be accountable.
Do I follow all of these every day? No, but I recognize that I am not perfect, give myself a break, and try to do better the next day.
We are all here to help with #10. Good luck!
