Morning gents!

Hope today finds everybody happy and healthy. Nice fall day here in New England, just the way I like it! I am back into the swing of things after my family emergency, thank you all for your kind words of support.

Down 2 pounds this week, I am just a tick above my all time low now. My new scale is paying off and I am tracking my body fat % as well as weight now. My gym time is split between cardio and upper body strength training.

Happy to see a few more new faces here, that is a sure sign that summer is over... just like my neighbors sailboat making it back into his yard (he leaves the barnacles and slime ON, lovely smell!), and the leaves covering the weeds in my flower beds!

Till next week, keep up the good work you losers!

Brian

Good morning Brian and good morning fellas,

Just wanted to check in and say hi. I've been doing good. Me and my wife have started kickboxing classes about three weeks ago. It's been great for the both of us. It's actually the first thing we've done together in a long time (other than sit on our butts in front of the tv). I can't believe the progress in a few short weeks. My endurance has skyrocketed in a very short time. I can't wait to see where I'll be at in six months. I really think this is what we needed to take our progress to the next level. The good point is there is a commitment to be on a specific schedule which is easier for us to commit to compared to making it to the gym whenever we can.

Enjoy your day of football fellas!
Bill

Howdy.

Little up tick but nothing to get in a panic about.  Long as I hold around 170 - I'm good!

Worked Noon to Midnight yesterday on account of the Cotton Harvest Festival.  Small town life at it's finest.  The BYOB street dance even went off without anybody going to the clink.  Couple of folks almost did but opted to walk home instead of taking the ride we offered them!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Morning!

Maintaining within parameters again this week. I tried out my sore knee on the treadmill yesterday and all systems go. I got a 5 miler in and some upper body stuff while I was there. I bought some new running shoes for the winter months- the Vibrams just don't have the insulation for that kind of weather up here in the northeast. I'll start breaking them in this week.

I made it to the plastic surgeon for a ballpark for a mini chin lift and tummy tuck. 8 large for the chin and 12 for the gut. That's a pretty big nut to crack to look 5 years younger! We'll see about the tummy tuck in a couple years- it's just not bad enough to deal with right now. I need to start plating the lottery.

Beautiful day for outdoor chores- dump and stuff. Pats and Jets at 4:00. Jobs have lined up at wor****il Thanksgiving. Life is good! that is all!!  Keep up the good work - always lurking....

So, I am back!  I was out of town last weekend, visiting my brother in California.  Had a great time.  Went sailing for the first time.

I am pretty sure my body is happy where it is, weight-wise.  No matter what I do or eat, no matter my exercise level, I stay between 208 and 213.  I am happy here.  I was shooting for 200, but I am happy.  May have to just resign myself to being in "maintenance" and move on with the ticker...

Glad to be back, see ya later!

Good morningish guys,

I mention last week that my wife and Physiologist think I have an eating disorder now. So I am seeing a Nut on Friday to appease them.  I really don't care if I lose another pound, but I would like to get rid of the moobs, front butt and the tent ( skin ) covering my stomach.

After seeing Tim's post, I can rule out plastic surgery for sure.  I am trying to do more exercise but the broken ribs are not fully healed and it hurts me still.  I have to remember " baby steps "

General question to the group and especially Brian.  What brand of scale do you guys have for measuring body fat ?  I have an old one that indicates I am at 28%, which may be true but I hoping it is incorrect.

Other than that life is good.   Glad to see the weather cooling down, but I will undoubtedly want spring like weather by January.

Dan, the brand / model of scale I use is the Tanita BC533.  It uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) to measure you body’s electrical impedance to estimate your body fat, muscle mass, body water, and bone mass based on formulas from empirical data.  Body fat is accurate within +/- 3%.  However, if you are consistent in how you measure, you can accurately track your progress.  Be sure to weigh at the same time of day; to empty your bladder; and drink 8 oz of water before measuring to get the most accurate readings.  Being dehydrated can throw off your readings.  My body water has been running about 56%.  Healthy men have body water percentages from 50 to 65%.  For body fat percentage the chart for men age 40-59 indicates healthy to be 11 to 22%.

HTH,

Mike

Hi Dan,

I use one very similar to this one by the same manufacturer: http://www.healthometer.com/Product.aspx?cid=1087&pid=12839

Inexpensive, good enough to tell me if I am making muscle but not losing weight. I am doing a lot more lifting and easing up on the diet but do not want to go backwards!

Well, I missed a week due to a massive attack of procrastination. I've been meaning to take a pill for that.

Actually both home and work have led to a lot of non-normal days and routine. And, we know how that affects the diet and exercise. I can say that I've managed to keep up with my lunchtime walking if not the gym. My goal for this week is to make certain I get to the gym 3 times as well as maintaining the lunch walk and holding down the snacking. You know, I've found that even snacking on healthy stuff is still snacking...and just because it says organic doesn't give it an automatic pass. The organic dark chocolate was the revelation on that one!

Hope all is well with all. Have a great week guys.
