Hey Fellas,
Posting from the road this week, I am in Ohio with my family making final arrangements for my step- daughter who is in her final days with Liver Cancer. We are fortunate to be able to care for her during her last days, sad times for sure.
I am up 2 pounds this morning... Probly due to weighing in shorts and a tee shirt which I never do. The travel also threw off my diet and exercise. I also got one of those fancy new scales that do BMI, fat%, hydration, etc.... Maybe I'll weigh the clothes and see if that is where the 2lbs came from?
Till next week, Brian
Hug your kids every day, let them know they are loved, keep them safe the best you can.

Brian, sorry to hear about your stepdaughter. My best wishes for your family.
It's actually cool in Houston this morning. I'm wearing jeans instead of shorts! Don't worry about us freezing, it will be back in the 90s before you can blink an eye.
I hit the farmer's market yesterday as I do most weeks for some fresh fruit and found some huge 5-count mangos. Yep, five to a case. They are almost the size of small cantaloupes. I plan on cutting one open later, lets hope they taste as sweet as they look! Headed out now to enjoy the cool weather.
Have a good week guys.

Brian-
My condolences regarding your step-daughter. My thoughts are with you during a very difficult time, for sure.
Gents-
Maintaining within parameters and up a pound this week. I had my 15 month post-op appointments this week and nothing new to report. I think I might be done with the psycologist and nutritionist appointments, they are not benefitting anyone except the hospital's billing dept. The intial lab results were promising as my iron and calcium levels were up. The rest will show up in a week or two. The next ones are in the spring. The surgeon did tell me to get my ass back in the weight room, as all the running I'm doing is not the same kind of muscle building as weight resistance. Point made.
I did get a couple of beach walks in this week as well as 12 or so miles, not including the half-marathon on Sunday. I had to lay low for a couple of days because that race kicked my ass. I will try another one next year and am registered for another 5K on Oct. 28 to benefit the local high school track and cross country teams. A worthy venture, I guess.
I have enjoyed several dense -protein forward meals- including sashimi and tuna tatakki- (raw fish if anyone's interested), some filet mignon and a bunch of grilled shrimp lined up for this afternoon. YUM. This kind of food always produces leftovers, and filling up on that stuff really keeps the ball rolling as far as stabilizing the caloric intake.
Tom Brady and Peyton Manning this afternoon- would like to see the Pats run a scoring clinic like they did last week- bring it!!
That is all- good luck!!

Brian - I am very sorry. I pray for your family.
Back down to 209.8 (Same as week before last). I am beginning to think this is where my body wants to be. I am happy as heck with it as well!
Since the weather in Houston has been so awesome lately, I am spending a lot of time outside, and on my bike. I am about to head back out again.
See ya!!!!
Brian, so sorry to hear about your step-daughter. We are just not programmed to deal with our children leaving this earth before us. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family in the days and weeks to come.
My stats this week:
High weight: 392 lbs
Pre-op Weight 4 Aug 09: 377.5 lbs
Last week: 212.4 lbs / 19.6% body fat / 162.2 lbs muscle mass
This week: 214.4 lbs / 19.7% body fat / 163.8 lbs muscle mass
Definitely not my typical week though I did make it to the gym 4 days. On Monday I took my wife to Atlanta for her 1 yr post-op checkup with her RNY surgeon. On Friday through this morning, we attended the OH conference in Atlanta. Awesome event. If you’re able to attend in the future, I highly recommend it.
Still baselining my current workout regimen before I transition to more strength training focused.
HW: 392 lbs SW: 377.5 lbs
CW: 215 lbs GW: 190 lbs
Down 3 lbs this week to 235. Saw my surgeon on Tues and discussed the results of my surgery from Sep 11th. Since he didn't find any ulcers or hernias and no cause for my chest pain, I said I guess it was a waste of time to have the surgery. He said "no" it wasn't a waste of time as he was able to clean up some scar tissue that could effect me in the future and also that he did not see any signs of cancer through out my body. The cancer part was good news.
I'm scheduled to see my PCP this Fri morning to start the search all over again. I have to call and change the appt as we got a call last night from a close friend who lost his wife Fri and will have her funeral Fri morning too. It's one of those you can't miss.
Finally looking at temps in the 80's this week here in Phoenix. We might even get lucky and get a little rain Fri and only get to 79. Our period in hell is almost over with for this year.

321 9/21/11 RNY Surgery Day
198.2 This morning... I have been bouncing around from 197 to 207 over the last month or so. Under 200 the last week or so now. (I weigh daily)
Hopefully next week our life will get back to normal, we are having tons of reconstruction on our home after the flooding incident. So I am not getting my normal workouts in the mornings.
(Sorry to hear about your step-daughter, I will keep you guys in my prayers.)
