Since the Men's Forum seems quiet...Thought we could get a new thread going...I've asked this one before just awhile back. So post weightloss surgery...What food don't agree with your new stomach. Is it more the amount or moisture?? Do some thing go down, but don't sit well? Do other things don't sit and the new stomach reject it outright??
Here are mine (RNY). Heavy cream soups (with tons of butter) don't sit well with me. A lot of chinese food doesn't either...I will have a few pieces...Not many. Most fried foods, again, just a small amount...After that, rumblie in my tummbly. Soft serve ice cream...I get a quick rush of the sugar and the oil (fat)...I have to throw out 1/2 the cone rather than scarf it down and regret it later.
So what about you??

I've got to agree on the Heavy Cream soups. First case of dumpingI ever got was about a week post-op. I had strained clam chowder. It was not good. Actually anything with too much liquid fat can do it. I had a wonderful cheese stuffed chicken (wrapped with bacon) last night and my stomach was rumbling but not too badly.

Baked chicken breast. It's too dry. I ate a quarter of one before a business meeting and had a terrible time (I wanted to throw up but thankfully didn't). The leg and thigh is not a problem (because of the fat) unfortunately I was trying to be "Healthy" and go lower fat. I'm still a bit "gun shy". I'm sure eventually it will work. it's not the chicken breast but how it's prepared as I mentioned above I didn't have too much trouble when there's enough fat to make it soft.

I sincerly hope that Chinese doesn't do that for me (I haven't had it yet post surgical; there is none on the island I live on). I love Chinese. I do know that Char Siu (the red BBQ Pork) sits very well with me (I can get that here).

Nothing else that I can think of (I'm only a month out so I have lots to try yet).

Thanks for asking.

Paul...

Can pretty well tolerate most foods unless it is too dry or has the consistancy of a hockey puck.  My taste buds and pouch pretty well work together to avoid any problems.  The only way I can do milk at all is in a latte but eat cheese as a snack almost daily.  Refried beans are still one of my go to foods even after four years.  I had them mixed with shredded cheese today at lunch.  Fried food is iffy.  Most of the time the worst that happens is an "oil slick" the next morning!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

I have problems with most fried foods. I don't try much of it, but when I do, I am reminded why I don't try and avoid it. My biggest problem is eating nuts. For some reason, I don't seem to have a limit to what I can put down. I have learned to not even have them in the house, because I don't control the portions properly.

I can eat virtually no bread, tortillas or anything dough-y. It clumps up in my pouch and comes up every time. I have not even attempted noodles or any pasta items. Any chicken skin is bad. And, sometimes lettuce. I think I tend to overeat and under chew salads, so I try to stay away.

And, honestly, some days anything I eat causes trouble. It's strange, but I guess that my "new normal."

 Hey Bri,

Raw Carrots, fried foods ( have only tried like 2 times, negative result both times, lol on the oil slick!). Had home fries the other day, only 2/3 chunks, went straight through the pipes, instant belly crisis and run for the can... Not pleasant. Other than those few instances I have done well and am happy with the food options I have.

I can tackle most foods if I take my time. Too much fatty foods and I'll dump. The denser the food the tougher it sits on the pouch but overall I can't complain on the types of food I can tolerate.

So far fried fish is out, most dishes with ground beef also. Any non-organic fruit or produce (I can taste the chemicals) that leave my mouth fuzzy feeling with a nasty taste on my mouth. So far that's all, time will tell the rest.
