Morning gents!

 My Stats:

High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Weight at surgery 4-23-12: 230
Last week: 177
This week: 175
Total weight lost: 94

Hi guys,

Coming to you late this morning because I had a little incident this morning on my way to the bathroom... I had made a lap around the first floor and was nearly to the bathroom and got terribly dizzy, sat down against the wall (wife did not push me although she tried)! The dizziness lasted at least a half hour, managed to get dressed and use the bathroom, grandson drove me to ER... They found nothing wrong, EKG, blood, hydration, BP... Treated me for vertigo as I have had bouts of it in the past. I am home now and to the gills with the drugs they gave me (If I sound a little more lucid right now, that is why)!

Loss of 2 this week... Tuesday I had my 4 month checkup and between the NUT and Surgeon they got my diet tuned up and I am back on track. They were especially appalled that I was having Dunkin Donuts iced coffee with (gasp) real cream in it... Lol

Blood test were ordered, anyone in the know please tell me if they missed anything. B12, D, iron, iron binding, intact pth, ferritin, hemoglobin, hematocrit, WBC, platelets, sodium, potassium, chloride, co2, and folic acid.

I have an amazing before and after to share later, till then, keep it up you losers!

Good morning guys,

Brian, Hope you get to feeling better.

Been a few weeks but I am still alive. Last week my wifey and I had our 35th anniversary. We went to the Grand Tetons and Jellystone Park. We decided to go on a nice gentle trail ride to view the beautiful mountains. ( That were covered in smoke from wild fires in Idaho ) and my stud of a horse got panicked when I dropped a water bottle from the saddle and bucked me off. I thought I was fine and got a new horse, then continued on a 2 hour trail ride. Next day I was a little sore but we traveled to Yellowstone and took in the sites. By that night I was in some major pain and we headed for home the next morning. When we got back, I went directly to Urgent Care and found out I had 2 broken ribs. Now I have been just laying around all doped up on Oxycontin and whimpering every time I move. The good news though is I continue to shed the pounds and am down 5 lbs. from my last weight in. Hope all is well with the gang and have a wonderful week. d

Up 2 lbs this week.  Some poor decisions were made on my part, and add to that the fact that I can't go to the gym, and well, you end up with 2.2 lb gain.  Oh well, this week I have more work to do...

Brian - That sounds familiar.  They never did find anything wrong with me.  I hope all is well, and you either figure out what caused it or end up like me with no more episodes but no answers.  (The knee issue that is keeping me out of the gym is from the wife pushing me down during that episode)

Best of luck guys!  See ya'll next week, if not sooner.

Yes, your wife is what had me hitting the floor before my wife could get to me!

(that may have come out wrong, my apologies...)

Glad you got to feeling better without serious intervention.  Soon to be Mrs. on my ass last week because I was feeling light headed and like to have passed out mowing the yard.  BP was running low.  Wanna blame it on being little a dehydrated.

Went to Shreveport, LA Friday to make sacrafices to the IGT (Int'l Gaming Tech. AKA:  slot machines) and Blackjack gods.  They were appeased with my offerings and bestowed their blessings on me!  Managed to get breakfast and lunch buffets yesterday comped.  I know.  Silly to eat at a buffet when you can't get your money's worth but free shrimp are free shrimp.

Catch you Losers later!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Brian,
Glad to hear you're feeling better. You know I am beginning to wonder about these mysterious spells that have hit so many of us. None of us seems to get an explanation, and life goes on. I wonder if there is something about testosterone and WLS that needs to be explored.

To me, it looks like they have the labs covered. Do you keep records of all of your lab results? I have a workbook that I bought from Andrea on the RNY board that has charts for all the labs so I can watch deviations over time. Not that the charts has kept me out of trouble, but it does help me to feel in control and organized when sometimes the medical team may not know my history. It's much easier to pick up on trends and even wild swings when it is all charted out.

Hi Everyone,

It's been two weeks since my last post. I'm down 4.8 lbs since then. The walking is getting better. A lot less pain in the knee's but I do get tired pushing three miles. I suspect things will improve as time goes by. I had my three month post op with the nutritionist, exercise and surgeon. Everything is looks good. The Dr requested some labs for the six month post op visit so everything is on track. The exercise coach was pretty impressed with my progress and that felt pretty good. Keep up the good work guys !

Have a great week and stay healthy !

No news is good news as far as the scale is concerned. Still lacking in my gym time due to other obligations, but I expect to have that cleared up this week. I'm ready for a normal week, but I expect that i may need to work toward a new normal between now and next March due to family and work obligations. But then, isn't that what maintenance is all about?

Living with a heart patient is taking a toll on me both emotionally and physically, I have to admit. But, we should come out of this stronger. I'm now trying to adjust my diet to choices that we can both enjoy. It will likely be better for me as well, but I am having some issues with actually eating some meals rather than just noshing on some fruit or cheese. Diets will be a real balancing act here for a while. Although we've been totally separate in what we've eaten for the past two years, I now feel like I need to match his diet to show him it's not too awful after all. That is causing me some issues that I need to work out. I was ok with making my changes without everyone else following suit, but somehow I feel the need to change my diet now to make my partner more comfortable with the choices available to him. Crazy? Probably.

Have a great week guys.

It is crazy what we do for love eh?  Since I usually share, I end up eating mostly what my wife feels like ordering at any given time.  I eat so little I feel guilty if I want to order my own dish and then not eat 75% of it.

Trying to find a balance for you and your partner is tough, but I really respect you for being there for him and willing to walk the same road!!
