Hi Fellas,

My Stats:

High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Weight at surgery 4-23-12: 230
Last week: 179
This week: 177

Total weight lost: 92

So far, the US is leading the medal race at 102 with the most Gold medals at 44...The games end late today, I hope everybody's favorite teams and atheletes come out on top.  Because this is an international forum I won't put too much into that except to say: Everyone here is a gold medal winner for taking the initiative to get WLS and lead a healthier, longer life... Congrats to you all for that.

Thank you to Michael for leading the weigh-in and providing encouragement and inspiration for us on our trip. I am pleased to be able to try and fill his shoes and will be doing a stellar job if I do half as well as he did!

Personally, I am 2 pounds down for the week and feeling great. I followed the rules for the most part but fell short on gym time because work has been so busy. On the 21st I have my 4 month follow-up which I am looking forward to. Full labs and visit with the NUT, the wife is still promising to come with me and let my surgeon know who is boss... should prove to be interesting!

Till next Sunday, keep up the fantastic job you losers!

492.4: Tufts Medical Center Program Start 9/20/10
462.5: Lap RNY Surgery day 2/7/11
291.6: Last Week 8/5/12
291.6: This Week 8/12/12 -->  No Change - BMI = 36.4
214.9 lbs Total Weight Loss

Thanks Brian, I know you will do awesome and look forward to hearing about your trials and tribulations.  Good Luck at the helm!

I loved most of the Olympics (I think that the pure number and variations of the swimming competitions is a bit of overkill but who am I) and was more appreciative of the athleticism than ever.  Would love to see Softball back in the olympics now though!!  Rally for 2016.  Maybe they can dump the girls dancing with the basketball or whatever that was.  Just don't get that...  Oh well, to each his own.

Anyway, as for me, there was no movement on the scales this week.  I have resolved myself that the WLS surgery honeymoon is officially over after hitting my 18 month post surgery date and I am in officially in maintenance.  I am 15 pounds below my surgeon's original goal for me which I feel blessed and grateful for.  Don't know how she came up with that number when I was at my heaviest...  Maybe I should ask her for some lottery numbers!!  I met with her the other day and she said something that finally clicked with me in that to lose any more weight now will take a good old fashioned regimen of diet and exercise.

I have been maintaining at roughly the same weight for about 4 months now and really want to be thinner.  I guess the ultimate goal in my mind is still around 260 lbs and feel that at 6'3" that would be a comfortable weight for me so I am thinking that I will officially go on my first "diet" after my vacation next week to see if I can actually drop 30 pounds.   In my pre-weight loss life and at 500+ pounds thirty pounds took very little effort and maybe a month or so of a liquid diet or some crazy thing.   Now, I know that I just need to eat properly and watch out for the snacks while increasing my exercise level to accompli****  We'll see how it goes as I guess two years of being in weight loss mode kind of takes its mental toll on one's psychie.  Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have changed a thing and am as happy as could be where I am now and for the things I can do but I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about.

Well, anyway glad that I am remaining accountable and posting here on the forum.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Mike

Brian, welcome to the mantle of "command" at the weigh-in.

First, congrats to Brian as he begins his reign of lord and master of the Sunday weigh-in. Will you be picking a new name like the pope does?

Up about a pound today. I know I've said this before, but I need to reaffirm my commitment to my loss. This was far too much trouble to allow myself to be gaining a pound here and there. I'm not a lost cause, by a long shot, but I need to get back on track and move away from some of my newly reacquired bad habits. Enough about that. As my dad used to say, "just shut up and do it." that about covers it.

Planning a quiet day today. Washing the car and hopefully a trip to the farmer's market for some fresh fruit. Have a great week guys and try to stay cool.

 Morning Gents-

I'm maintaining within the 5 lb parameter that was described to me by my dietitian at my last appt. Since I hit goal in May I have fluxed between 167 and 171 and as long as I can maintain at this level I will be a happy camper. I still weigh every morning ( I know it's obsessive) but it seems to keep me conscious of food choices and activity (or lack thereof) that I may be contemplating on a daily basis. Immediately afterward I inspect the five plus pounds of skin that's on my waist and if I have the need (or the stones) to do anything about it eventually. Not for a couple of years, at least. It's not THAT bad.

That being said, I completed my fourth road race of the year yesterday afternoon. The 2012 Brew Run, named partly for the town it's in (Brewster, MA) or the establishment it is located at (The Woodshed) a pub bar.5.25 miles- I finished in roughly 47 minutes. That was the first race I been in where there was a mobile trailer with keg taps set up for complimentary drinks afterward. My affinity for beer was assassinated immediately after surgery, I just don't have the taste or tolerance for it anymore. I am registered for two more races- Sept 9th- another 5 miler and a half marathon on Sept 30th. Twelve miles should be interesting, but I have been upping my distances between 5 and 9 miles every 2 to 3 days, so I should be able to nail it by then. (I hope!)

Lastly, I want everyone to know how much being a part of this forum, loaded with advice, encouragement and camaraderie has benefited me on this journey of ours. I got way more out of this than any hospital appointment or group support. And I want to thank each and every one of you for giving me something to look forward to on a daily basis, especially you Mike, your presence on this site was, and is invaluable to me- and it was a pleasure to have met you in person (Bill Mac, as well). Good luck to you all, always lurking-

Good Morning All...
I'm going to try and get in the habit of posting on the Sunday Morning Weigh-in so this is my first.
I'm looking to purchase a doctor's scale as mine at home is terrible so here is what I know for sure.
Highest Weight  340
Surgery weight  310
My actual weight as on 2 weeks ago 264 my surgery date was July 20Th/12 I tried to get into the doctor's office on Friday to get an update but they were closed..will attempt tomorrow.
I'm feeling great except for my energy level...which is the lowest in my life and I feel very weak. I've been trying to get some walking in( about 1/4 mile a day) but have not been consist ant. I'm back to work last week but only 4 hour shifts, I manage a Hardware Store so I spend most of my time behind a desk or wandering the sales floor. I am glad to return as sitting at home watching the Olympics was great...for a day or two, after that well I was board ass hell ( GO CANADA) I did make a trip to Cambridge and visited with John A. He was kind en ought to give me a couple of hours to chat about his experience and answer some questions I had.
Everybody remarks that I really have my head around this and allot of that is due to the Men's Form. In reading here sometimes you had me laughing other times nodding in amazement as it seemed like it was me posting these comments.
Thanks for the support and maybe I will help someone down the road.
I do have one question....alto of you have your stats posted with every posting with a sliding scale or such....how does on do that? Sure gives anyone a better idea where you have came from and where you are going.
Thanks for all the sharing

Another 2 lbs lost this week.

So weight loss wise, no complaints.  Life is good on that front.  I am 13 lbs away from my goal.  No rush to get there.  I am happy where I am now.  My life is great where it is now.  I love the new found freedom and energy.

I have done a fiar job of staying on track with my snacking, eating, etc.  I just see to get more hungry these days.  I guess I just have to work harder at it.

I just got my labs drawn this week for my 1 year follow up on August 31st with my surgeon.  I was hoping to be at goal before my 1 year, but I know that isn't going to happen.  I don't really care though.  Whatever happens...

I am going to post a seperate post with my excitement of the week, that landed me in the E.R. to see what ya'll think about that...

Have a great week!

PS- Mike, sorry to lose you as the QB of our Weigh-In, but glad it is for the right reasons.  Brian - Welcome aboard, and you do have huge shoes to fill...  I'm sure you will do great!

Hello Everyone,

First, a big THANK YOU to Mike for doing a great job as the leader of the Sunday Morning Weigh In on this forum. His dedication, insight, and enthusiasm in his posts were always something I looked for to start my week.

Also, another thanks to Brian K for being willing to step up and take Mike's place. I am confident he will do an amazing job!!

In any event, I post on here almost weekly, and do so for two purposes. First, to keep my self accountable on this WLS journey. Second, to be able to gain insight on how others are doing as they share their experiencses, strength and hope in WLS Journey. I cannot put into words how EACH of you have helped me on this journey.

In any event, here are the  Numbers:

346: All time high 7/1/10 - BMI = 52
326: Tufts Medical Center, Surgery 12/27/10 BMI=49
199: Last Week 8/5/12
196: This Week 8/12/12 --> Loss of 3 pounds - BMI 30
150: Total Weight Loss

Overall pretty happy with the current numbers. Happy to see a loss of 3 as I did a better job overall this week with eating and exercise, and it is nice to see it show on the scale!!!

The eating was better. A lot more fruits, veggies and most important protein. Daily intake of protein had been below 60 but over last week average about 80 so that was good. Still have to be careful not to eat due to being upset; Grazing; Sweets/Salty foods w/ NO nutritional value. It is never easy, but got to keep my focus on a DAILY BASIS!!

On a better note, exercise was good. I now run 3-4 miles at least 3-4 times a week. I am also planning on registering for my 5th 5K race in the next couple weeks.

I have to pinch myself some times at how good I feel physically and health wise and know how hard I have had to work to get to where I am. I will do whatever I have to in order to ensure I keep moving forward on a positive note in this Weight Loss Journey....

Hope all of you have a nice week...

Yours in WLS,
Bill
