WHERE IS EVERYONE???!?!?!  I leave for 3 weeks on vacation and come back to no Weigh in???   What happened?

Back from my 18 days in Hawaii.  Didn't have a scale with me, and worried a little bit while I was there about my diet.  Finally broke down and went to Walmart shopping for other stuff and snuck over to the scale section and weighed in.  (That was about halfway through my trip)  Wearing all of my clothes, I showed a 3lb gain at that point.  So, I called it good and stopped fretting over it.  I got home and stepped on my scale and, low and behold, I weight EXACTLY what I did when I left home.  I ate what I wanted, and didn't worry about calories or carbs too much.  I guess the added physical activity made up the difference...

So,what did I do...

Lots of walking on the beach
Lots of Snorkeling
8 Scuba Dives (4 trips of two tanks per trip)
Several hikes, one of which was 2 miles uphill to a 400' waterfall, then 2 miles back...
Ziplining - Scared of heights but wanted to do it anyway.  Couldn't before because of weight limits
Lots of walking and shopping!
Flew to Hawaii (8 hours each way) and back without a seatbelt extender and waas as comfortable as anyone could be in an airplane seat.  Can't say comfortable, because the seats aren't, but it was a huge difference between the last time I flew and this trip!

I wish I could say I am glad to be home, but I am not.  I wish I were back in Hawaii.  The wife and I have started seriously discussing moving there.  We have been quite a few times, and every time it gets harder to come home.

Since I got home and back on my diet and routine, I have list 2 more lbs.  I am .9 lbs away from being half the man I was when I started this journey.  Heres to watching the scale!!!

Have a great week guys!!!!

Hi Fellas,
My Stats:
High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Weight at surgery 4-23-12: 230
Last week: 180 This week: 179
Total weight lost: 90

I was poised and ready to post the "Where's Mike" edition today, Don beat me to it! Welcome back Charlie, you done good being in paradise and not gaining a pound! Down a pound for the week so I proved to myself I could get to goal and stay there (at least short term!). I was really worried that I would lose control and blow it once I got there. Worked Almonds and Greek Yogurt into the diet this week, the threads on Protein and hunger had lots of great info and suggestions, everyone here is amazing and the support fantastic! I have my 4 month followup in 2 weeks, I hope the doc is prepared to be blown away!   Keep up the good work you bunch of losers!

Hello All,

To answer the question Where is Mike? I spoke to him the other day and he had a family getaway so probably will post Sunday Nite.

In any event, I post on here almost weekly, and noticed that there is a lot less posts. I chalk it up to vacations and summer living!! However, I do love the posts I follow as it is always inspiring and thought  provoking!

In any event, here are the  Numbers:

346: All time high 7/1/10 - BMI = 52
326: Tufts Medical Center, Surgery 12/27/10 BMI=49
198: Last Week 7/29/12
199: This Week 7/29/12 --> Gain of 1 pounds - BMI 30
150: Total Weight Loss

Overall pretty happy with the current numbers. In reviewing my fitday.com data, I have been  fluctuating between 195 and 200 for the last 3 months.  In light of being 350 only 18 months ago, no complaints here!!

However, the eating has NOT BEEN GOOD. I do ok most of the time, but have gotten back in to some bad habits ie: Eating due to being upset; Grazing; Sweets/Salty foods w/ NO nutritional value.  I know of far too many instances where people have surgery and then within a relatively short amount of time start gaining weight back. I REFUSE to to do this to myself. Starting today have done better and will try to take it one meal at a a time to get back on track!

On a better note, exercise was good. I now run 3-4 miles at least 3-4 times a week. I am also planning on registering for my 5th 5K race in the next couple weeks.

I have to pinch myself some times at how good I feel physically and health wise and know how hard I have had to work to get to where I am. I will do whatever I have to in order to ensure I keep moving forward on a positive note in this Weight Loss Journey....

Hope all of you have a nice week...

Bill

Bill I am "with ya" on the bad habits, cookies were my issue before and quickly becoming a "problem" again.  Doing my best to stock up on healthy snacks instead!!

Crappy breakfasts is my second area of downfall, so freakin easy to order a biscuit, got to find something I will eat that is not greasy / full of fat for breakfast.

Exercise is offsetting this, and I realize that "normal" people DO eat this crap on occasion, just got to find a balance...  So just know u r not alone, we all started in the same place, pretty much for the same reason.

WLS is a very effective tool, but has not "turned off" the desire for bad stuff, sigh...

Hi Sam,

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your response!! I like all the guys comments on here and also am intrigued by their journey. In following yours, we could be WLS Twins!! We have several things in commen in terms of our experiences, and like you mention it is nice to know that we are not alone in this trek.

One point of yours is so true. BALANCE is the key between Eating, Exercise and Emotions. I have to keep reminding myself why I did this and remember how hard I have had to work to get to where I am now.

Keep up the great work and posting the supportive and caring comments of encouragement!!

Yours in WLS Journey,
Bill Mac

Highest: 407 lb
Surgery: 5-17-10
Last week: 189.4 lb
This week: 192.2
Fluctuation this week: +2.8 lb
Total loss: 214.8lb

Up a bit this week. I've been playing with a few pounds up and down. I need to work on about 5 pounds to get back to the comfort zone. I know that I am wasting some calories on sweets and wine. Unfortunately the wine leads to the sweets, so it's a double whammy.

My goal for this week is more water, less coffee and less sweets...and I'd like to get closer to that 185 mark!

Have a good week guys.

Hey guys

I appreciate Don starting today's weigh-in. I was wondering if I  had missed something.

I had some major FARTS this week and am very happy about them.

1. I squeezed between my truck and the fence that I was positive I would not fit. I didn't even touch either one.

2. I was putting on some pants this week ( size  36 waist ) and as I held them up, I thought these must be one of my boys pants.

3. Not really a FART, but I hit 100lbs lost since surgery in late January.

Have a great week.
