Almost 4 months
On the 12th of this month I will be at 4 months. I am currently down 82 pounds. I am no longer diabetic based on A1C and am off 14 pills. I still take a few but much less. Everything is easier as far as movement, sleeping, chores. even tying my shoes which I can now do in almost any position and still breathe. I can now see how constant vigalance is needed for me to continue. It is easy to make poor choices and allow calories and food take over. Food is everywhere and permiates into every social event, meeting, family gathering. I nibble on healthy food once in awhile but in general the ease at which I could snack all day is there. I have had my foamy attacks and learned quickly they were my fault. Spicy food is delicious but is off the radar for awhile as it does not stay down. My wardrobe is a mess I have tons of clothes that are either too big or too small and I seem to be losing some areas of fat at different levels. Heat is less of an issue. I worked outside in 101 degree heat, while it was warm it was tolerable where pre surgery I would have been a mess. Still my lingering concern is to not be a failure, so vigalance and commitment and discipline to follow the rules are what I think of when food is around me. I think I am changing my relationship with food but I am not so niave to think I can change 20+ years of poor eating in my adult years will be corrected by 4 months of post surgery restrictions. I work at it every day and somedays I hardly notice I am restricted other days I wish I did not need surgery but I tend not to dwell on that. Mostly I am just thankful to healthy at least my version of healthy. So thats where I am at, still losing, still learning and still alive.
