Hi guys...

Wow, what a journey.   Tomorrow (7/2) is my surgery day (7:45am Surgery) and wanted to join in on this great site as I begin this new phase of life!!

Started the Options class through Kaiser SoCal at my highest weight of 324lbs in November 2011.  Sitting here the day before my surgery at 298 and feeling excited.  Been heavy my whole life (well, since 4th grade when I remember hitting the 100lb mark) and began to have some health issues over the past 2 years.  My wife is extremely supportive of me in this process and I'm ready for many more years with our future kids.

Count this as my first Sunday weigh-in at 298 with a 4lb drop this past week.

See ya on the other side of surgery on the Loser's Bench.

Take care,
Nicholas

Congratulations on your surgery tomorrow!  Best of luck and check in with us as soon as you feel like you are up to it.

My advise - WALK WALK WALK, SIP SIP SIP, REST REST REST!  (Crazy as it sounds, you will feel much better ang rid yourself of the gas pain a lot faaster by walking)

Thanks for the advice Charlie!  I hear about the importance of walking from quite a few people.  I wonder how long after surgery they'll have me get up and walk?

For me, it was two hours after I woke up.  I went in for surgery at around 0930, and woke up at almost noon.  I was dying of thirst (or so it seemed at the time) and they told me, rather sadistically as inrecall, that I couldn't have any water until after I walked.  So, I said let me up and I will walk now,  again, rather sadistically, they replied that I am not allowed to walk for two hours after I wake up because of the drugs.  So, she said at 2pm you can walk.  At 1:59 I hit the nurse call button and as son as she walked in to the room, I was off for my first walk.  Turns ou****er is a helluva motivator for me!!!

I really appreciate the insight… It gives me a little glimpse of what tomorrow may be like.  It's crazy why they wouldn't let you have any water until after you walk... must be they want to get some of the stuff moving around.

Hit the low end of the doctors goal of 210 about a month ago now, since that point I have started P90x and my weight has fluctuated from 206-211.

I am currently gaining muscle, I can see it in the arms, shoulders, legs, etc, so despite no real "weight loss" on the scale in the month, I am sure I am still losing fat.

At some point I am gonna pick up one of those scales that run the current through you and give you a fat measurement % (and lean weight etc) just so I can "prove" this!

My first road course 5k is scheduled for 7/21, I actually have been thinking about another race on July 4th but I think I am going to hold off.  I could run it, but would rather spend the time with my wife and family waiting for the parade instead.

Keep safe and cool out there this week!

Attaboy Dan, isn't it funny how much we depend on electricity?
