I'll take that 1.4 pound loss this week. Its been a crazy week for me. I did get to the gym and walked throughout the week so am happy with that. Ate fairly well and got my protein and water in each day.
Had a couple of exciting events happen this week. First of all my Blue Jays Girls Softball team won their second round playoff game 4-2 and now advance to the third round tomorrow night. The game ended up being played after a monsoon rain / thunder storm went through and 5 out of 13 of my girls didn't make the game. We were short handed (8 players against 11 for the Rockies) with mostly our 8 year olds (8-10 year old league) but they hunkered down and scrambled for the victory. I was so happy to see them execute one of the drills we worked on all season (shortstop to 2nd for a force out) to get us out of a jam with runners on the corners. What a feeling to realize that they actually listened and learned something and executed. Made all my efforts this season worthwhile! A win tomorrow will send us to the championship game on Thursday. Looking for any good luck sent our way that I can muster up!! Looking forward to an exciting game tomorrow and no matter what happens we have had a very successful season and I am very proud of our team.
The second big thing was that our new 10 week old white with brown spots Labradoodle puppy arrived on Friday from Ohio. He is so cute but I had forgotten how much work a little puppy is! Phew. I'm gettting more and more walking in which is a very good thing for everyone! For all of you Jaws (the shark movie) fans we named him Pippet. Just have to watch out when we bring him to the beach on Cape Cod this summer!! (queue ominous Jaws theme music here!)
Well, I can hear him whining upstairs and I think nature is calling... Time for another walk!
Hope everyone has a great week!

2 lbs. up this week and pretty much am where I want to be on this journey. No major fluctuations in caloric intake or excercise- I'm guessing I have probably leveled off into maintenence mode. I can see and feel my body firming up from the running and free weight training. The areas that do not have extra skin around them are getting chisled. It still kind of freaks me out a little to see bulging veins in my forearms where every phlebotomist I've ever met had trouble finding one in the past. I might make an appt. with a nutritionist that I have seen before to find out what my body fat % is just for ****s and giggles.
The Garmin Forerunner GPS watch is becoming quite the motivational tool for my runs. The software allows me to break everything down into mile-laps and track speed, distance, pace, grade , ascent-descent and lays the track out on a map that I can view in Google Earth. I'ts pretty cool to finish a run and instantly see your course and progress. A good toy for me!
Today's schedule consists of household chores, and a graduation party in the afternoon at the local Elks Club. I'm debating on whether or not to get another run in, I know my muscles need to recoup but my mind and energy level says screw it and go. Maybe a beach walk with the pooch is in order.
I know some folks with a labradoodle, Mike, they seem to be a pretty cool breed, and the best thing is no shedding. As much as it will be a family member, I'm guessing that it will become "your dog". Who's gonna let the dog out at 6:00 a.m. or 11:00 at night? Who will inflict corporal punishment during housebreaking? Who will get a "running buddy"? I think we all know the answer to those questions!!
Good luck you guys and have a great week!

Great post. Just had to comment about the change in our bodies. I too am amazed at the changes in my body from the WLS and from running. Sometimes I look in the mirror and think is that really me?? I especially love the comment about the veins in the forearms. I had the same thing and am such a dink, I find myself "flex" and have to giggle to myself.
Would love to get together for a run some time this summer. Maybe we can get together with Mike P and make plans!!
Yours in WLS,
Bill

Loss of a pound this week, smallest loss yet but I'll take it. Life for me is still a shambles and I need to get back into a routine, hopefully this next week will be better. Had my appointment last Tues. with my surgeon... she is pumped and thinks I am a model patient, I am ahead of the curve on my weight loss. I was told at this stage that 2lbs. a week is a good loss and anything over that a bonus.
Today I turn 49 years old on my 23rd wedding anniversary (Yes my birthday and anniversary share the same date, that way I'll never forget my birthday, LOL!). We are going out on a date and if I play nice I might get lucky!
Hug your kids and let them know they are loved, keep them safe but realize even when you do your best they will sometimes take the wrong path... Having an empty nest sucks!
Till next week, keep up the great work you bunch of losers!
Brian
