 Hey Guys,

Not much to say. Weight is low/ stable and I've pretty much been active since RNY.

Did find this article about gut microbes and it does say this about RNY guts:

"Another modifier of gut microbe composition is gastric bypass surgery, used in certain cases to alleviate conditions of serious obesity. In earlier work, the authors found that the post-surgical microbial composition of patients who underwent so-called Roux-en-Y gastric bypass was distinct from both obese and normal weight individuals."

Interesting stuff.  I wonder if most RNY/DS surgeons want to see their patients take some probiotics (acidophilus) after surgery?
The other thing that comes to mind is irritable bowel syndrome.  For a certain percentage of RNY patients their IBS goes away...I am one of them.  I would have had this surgery just for that part of the relief!!Others still have IBS post op.  Also the RNY surgery (about 20 years ago) was an experimental surgery for IBS.  They discovered the weighloss side of the surgery and ran with it.  Brian  PS  I wonder if simple yogurt can suppress hunger??
