2.8 LBS LOST THIS WEEK
147.4 Lbs Lost since surgery
196.4 Total Weight Lost

Another great week.  Lost 2.8 lbs.  No complaining here!

Pretty busy week at work.  Nothing remarkable.  However, Friday, my oldest brother and his wife flew in from California for the weekend and spent the weekend with us.  (They flew in for his daughters High School graduation, but stayed with us and we just drove them to the graduation)  They are flying out this afternoon to go home.  I am really enjoying having them here.  I miss having him close enough to visit regularly.

Doing well on the C25K program.  Able to keep up so far.  Week two is definately harder than week 1, but I was able to do it.  I looked ahead and weeks coming and they are looking a little intimidating, but I will fini****!  (May just take a couple of repeated weeks to get there!!!)

Finally, and most importantly, thank you to all the folks out there who gave me the freedoms I have today.  The words mean nothing compared to the sacrifices of those who gave and those who gave all.

Have a great week!

Great post...Sounds like things are going well.

As far as the C25K program, I know when I started was intimitated and thought there is NO WAY I will be able to complete it. Having now finished it and ran two 5K's and running 3-4 times a week my only advice is to stick w/ it because it works.

Yours in WLS,
Bill

I just finished week 3 day one.  The 3 minute run almost killed me.  However, I was able to do it and the shock and adrenaline rush of succeeding on the first 3 minutes made it possible to push through the other 3 mins.

If I drop off of here, and just stop posting, it is because I am recovering from my heart attack.  Just be patient, I'll be back!  hahaha

In all seriousness, I am actually enjoying these runs.  Everytime I succeed at a day of this program, it gives me such a boost that I am excited to go back and do it again...

Good stuff and Amen to what Bill said about the C25K program.  I was very intimidated when I started and felt the same as you when looking forward but you can absolutely do it and if you are running and feel like you are going to quit start saying this in your head "Fat Boys Quit" and it is surprising how motivating those three words are in the mind of a formerly super morbidly obese man!!  Of course if you are feeling any pain then you should listen to your body and tone it back.  No need for injuries!!

Good luck and look forward to hearing you next 7 weeks of C25K victories and you telling us that you have run for 30 minutes straight!!  What a feeling!

Thanks!

So far, since I got the new shoes and such, no pain at all.  No injuries is definately the goal.  Really the only pain I am having is the 'cramp' in my ribs when I start to get real winded.  However, that is just something I have to work through.  No real pain in the legs, knees or ankles while running.  Knees are sore later, but nothing that requires pain meds or anything.

I will let you know that you are one of the folks I watched to see if I thought I could do this.  Since you succeeded, I decided that I couldn't let you out-do me on this one.  So, I am following in your footsteps.  Just don't run too fast, or I might not be able to keep up!!!

Keep watching, before you know it, I'll be running 30 minutes!!!  (I think I just threw up a little thinking about that!!!)

LOL Charlie.  I'm glad that I have helped to motivate you.  One of they keys when doing the C25K that you don't see mentioned anywhere is to NEVER, and I mean NEVER stop running/jogging.  The first thing you should do if you feel you can't go any longer is to ratchet the speed down.  Even if you are close to a crawl speed as long as you are still moving forward and pumping your arms.  You will find that you will recover within a minute or so and be able to keep chugging along.  You should ultimately concentrate on getting in your times now and speed will come over time.  Good Luck and let me know if you have any more questions.  Good Luck!

A two lb. uptick this morning-I'm not surprised or upset. A hectic schedule and different food choices may have contributed but I have seen that kind of fluctuation before during any given week lately. Regular meals have been status quot pretty much, the volume I consume at a meal hasn't been out of range and the protein first choices are standard.  A little more grazing in the evening perhaps- usually Kaschi cereal dry with some almonds mixed in.

I did take a few days off from exercising after the pooch jumped on me in bed and landed right on my stones. 'nuff said.. I purchased a Garmin forerunner GPS training watch on e-Bay last week. It uses satellite to track distance and pace. A million other programs and settings to go through but it will be a motivational tool to continue increasing my workout performance. I am registered to run in my 2nd. 5K this upcoming Sat a.m. and am looking forward to it.

The Cape is inundated with traffic and people this weekend - summer's here! I will be going to "Choretown" this morning before using my off road beach permit at Race Point in Provincetown later this afternoon.

Well, I sense another "steamer" heading down the pipe- maybe I should weigh in again in a half hour? Just kidding... good luck to the rest of you guys- have a pleasant and reflective weekend!

Once again a great post.  Hope you had fun at Race Point.  I love that part of the Cape.

Had to chuckle about the pooch hitting you in the stones.  I was in WalMart yesterday with my two daughters and looking at pool toys when we found some styrofoam noodles that had jousting pads on each end so we were all battling in the pool aisle when one of my daughters came around and nailed me right in the stones.  Lesson learned:  never joust with people that are two feet shorter than you...
