Did you have RNY??  If you are not sure call your doctor's office.  So often what you think minor may be a major issue.  We as men think..."Well, I'm not a wuss...I'll tough through it".  By checking with your surgeon they can spot something that might be serious.  I couldn't burp for 6 months post op...So in some ways I envy you.  Can you swallow OK?  Brian

I had quite a bit of hiccups and still have some burping. Doc said it was most likely due to the drain tube in the diaphragm.

Things are still pretty tender between cutting & moving your innards around.  Most likely esophageal / diaphragm spasms.  I would cough or get the hiccups but had trouble burping 1st 6 months too.

Dan,

I had alot of irritation from the breathing tube which meant a sore throat, caughing and difficulty swallowing... this passed within a week. Bad hiccups, even still if I eat too fast. Few carbonated beverages and bland food still so little burping although I can easily do it if I need to (A little diet coke here and there).

Hang in there you loser!
