So on the subject of goal setting as many of you know I make my goals based on accomplishments and not about the scale.  To illustrate it here are a few pictures.

Morning of surgery:

Pre first 5K (11 weeks)

First Half Marathon Finish:

Best 5K ever!

In each of these Photos I am considered Either Overweight or some Degree of Obese. But it shows that this label does not affect what I do or how people feel about me as the last one is my son running his 2nd 5k with me.  I have even ran with him and helped him get 2nd place in a 5K for his age group (he was 9 in the picture).

This past Saturday I ran a 5K in 28 and change and claimed overall Winner for Bariatric males.

Enjoy your life not a number on the scale.

Paul, the words of advise and encouragement continue to help.

Thanks for giving your time for our journey!

This is such a great post!  This weekend I ran a 5k with a little running buddy of mine who was born deaf.  He is 7.  We crossed the finish line at 40:59 and lemme tell ya, it was the best FREAKIN' 5k that I have ever run.  I loved it and felt such a sense of accomplishment as we crossed it with our hands held!

I recently went to Charlotte, NC to become a Council Director and Head Coach of a girls running program called Girls on the Run.  It encourages healthy choices, positive self esteem and body image in girls 8-14.  They celebrate the 10 week curriculum by completing a 5k anyway they want -- hopping, skipping, running, walking.  This is such a thrill for me to be a part of and I can't wait to start coaching in the fall!

Congrats on lifetime achievements!!
