I am 5 weeks post op and have hit a wall.  I started with soft foods two weeks ago and have not lost a pound sense...I upped my cardio and added an extra mile walk on my lunch break.  I have been very diligent with my food intake and have been averaging 700 cal per day.  What the heck is going on?  I see the doctor again this Friday, hopefully she will have some insite.

Patience Grasshopper.  Your body is trying to figure what is happening to it.  Once you get into ketosis - it is all down hill from there!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

What Don says!!! I've been there. It seems so easy the first few weeks then you start getting normal foods in and it changes. I'm a few weeks ahead of you and I've found out I'll go a few days with nothing then overnight or in just a day or so I'll lose a few pounds. One thing I've noticed for me is there is a fine line between eating enough and not enough. Like over the weekend I pretty much stayed the same then yesterday I added some more protein and calories because I could just tell I was running a little lean and sure enough on the scale this morning I was down a pound and I had a ton more energy. Try to listen to your body and pay attention to your energy level and that might help you know when maybe you need a few more calories.

We are running so close on calories, protien and carbs just a slight variation can make a difference. It's weird to think I have to eat more to get my body to lose weight but in some cases that is all it takes. Especially if you are exercising more.

Trust me you'll start losing agian, I went through the same thing and still do at times but like Don says "patience grasshopper". Something I need to pratice myself but I'm getting better at it.

Stalls Happen.  Its your body's way of saying "Hey, Wait a minute man!".  They bug the hell out of ya, but they end.  Just stay on your plan, get plenty of water, and as much protein as you can.

You may find your measuements changing while you are in a stall.  You may wake up one morning and be 3 lbs less than you were the day before.  Trust me both have happened. to me.

Just stay the course and you'll be fine!

Hi,

Early Pos Op can be very challenging. Stick to the plan, Water, Mindful Eating, and Exercise. Most of us have been where u r, know it is difficult, but got thru it. WLS is quite a journey, if you are following the plan, the weight will come off...

Further, talk to your doc and nut, they may be able to provide insight as well...

Yours in WLS,
Bill

Stay the course brother. I am slightly behind you at 23 days out... I go through trails every day and although I have not stalled, I will. I am losing like mad because I can barely even get the protein in,much less any other calories. My pouch must be extra small because after 2 or three nibbles I am done. 2 suggestions: measure all your food, don't guess... And, weigh once a week only, a watched pot never boils.

There will be many times in the future that you will have stalls. The only thing that you can control in the new you is doing the right thing. If you do everything that your Doctors have instructed you to do everything will be fine. There will be day(s) and or week(s) that your scale won't move that much but always keep in mind a few things (1) your body needs to adjust to your new life style. (2) even if the scale doesn't move your measurements may, so make sure that you always take measurements of different areas of your body. (3) Now that your exercising more, muscle weights more than fat. Keep your chin up and continue working at it and you will be fine. We are all here to help you out and or answer any questions that you may have. Good luck and congrats on your progress so far!

Its funny, it seems the farther out you are post op, the less you care about the scale and dont even think of weighing in.  The more my muscle tone is returning, the more active I am, and all of a sudden one day, your newer "skinny" clothes are once again falling off....jump on the scale only then for a nice suprise!
