Post weightloss surgery...What foods don't sit well with you??

I'm only 3 weeks out and after 2 weeks of protein shakes and now on pureed foods, I'm looking forward to eating real food.  I have had chicken salad and felt like it was caught in my throat.  It didn't bother my pouch any just my throat.  The next time I put it in the magic bullet and really broke it down.  That helped!  I've nibbled some ground meat from the kids nachos without any problem and did the same with chicken strips but I pulled all the breading off.  Also no problems there.  Not sure about carbs yet or many of the things that many of you have mentioned but I'm sure I'll find out.

Hi Guys,

Great thread Brian....So I am just about 1 1/2 years Post Op. I honestly do not have a major problem with digesting any foods. Like noted by others above, this is honest, sometimes I have items not good like sweets, salty foods, or fried foods. But the key is it is INFREQUENT and in MODERATION.  However, a couple things I do struggle with slightly is any breads or red meat. Honestly, I can count on one hand how many times I have had hamburger or steak since surgery. Prefer turkey, chicken and fish for protein.

One thing that does still help me is ensuring any food I eat is with ample moisture as dry foods do give me some struggles. No problems with dairy either.

Best thing is today I have CHOICES and know how to choose wisely!

Best,
Bill

Believe it or not, in the 9 months since VSG surgery, I have only found 1 thing that doesn't sit well.  Brown rice.  I tried a single bite of brown rice that my wife had cooked and it was like I ate a lead brick.  Haven't tried it since (has been several months) because I don't really care for it in the first place.  I only ate it to test it out.  Other than that, everything sits well with me.  (Even sweets! Uh-Oh)

Great post!!!!

I'm 18 months post-op RNY. Pork is something I have to avoid. Before surgery I loved BBQ pulled pork but just can't take it now. Also have to be very careful with other red meats that aren't ground.

As others mentioned, fried foods and Chinese are killers for me. Breads, sugars, pasta and other stuff put me to sleep.

My meals usually consists of raw veggies, salads, poultry, and seafood.

Six years post op here. Foods change almost daily the standards that do not work well are pretty constiant

Carbs of most kinds and dense or dry or stringy meat and lettuce almost any junk food works like a champ though I think at times when my head takes over and tosses my comon sense and pouch down the flight of stairs this is my undoing so in a effort to combat this I just stopped buying the junk altogether.
Sometimes all you have left is to Cowboy up!
