Ahhhhh Food! Stage 3
Hello gents,
Just got done with my first real food in a month. Had a bit of grilled chicken followed up with a lite string cheese! I am "Full as a tick". Nut and Surgeon were thrilled with my progress and it is full steam ahead. My belly grumbled a little at the intrusion but so far so good.
See all you losers on Sunday!

Isn't great to have something other than liquids!!! If it goes down and stays down you can't beat that! This happened to me and a bunch of people on the boards when you start eating regular foods you might not lose anything for a few days. I did for about 5 or 6 days and then it started dropping again. Just don't freak out and do like they say stay away from scale for a while.
Glad to see you are doing well you Big Loser!!!

Bon appetit!! A few reminders...You probably have heard before. General information...Your doctor's diet might differ from mine. When starting solids (RNY) be sure to listen to your pouch. Your pouch will rule you for the next 5-6 months...You don't rule your pouch!! When introducing new thing down there, if something doesn't feel right, stop for a few minutes or longer, and then proceed. If your nose starts to run or you start to hiccup, know that you've eaten too much or too fast and you need to take a break. If you don't you will get the foamies. The foamies are when you pouch is full (or food gets stuck) and there is no place for new food or saliva to go. Because the saliva is backing up you will be sitting in front of a sink or spitting into a cup as you continually spit up a white foam (saliva)...Hoping and praying you will either throw up or the food will pass. I personally couldn't throw up for a few months. I had problems burping for a few months too. You might be different.
Foods are going to taste different now. You should notice fat (the taste) in the food a lot more. When you introduce new foods you may want to do it at home...To be safe. In general (don't quote me) the easiest proteins to digest are milk and milk products (string cheese, cottagecheese, plain yogurt), (tuna, chicken, egg salad...with some low fat mayo, salt and pepper). Beef can be hard to digest early on...Pork even more so. Also if you have cream soups watch out for the butterfat...Very rich and your pouch may not like it. Dumping is a bear...But it's a good reinforcement for bad behavior. You might want to have some cooked frozen spinach...With a little salt (vitamins, potassium, and sodium). Just some thoughts...

Hi, (I don't know your name)
Thanks for the encouragement. You are a real asset here and myself and I am sure others really appreciate it. I have been hitting the brakes as soon as I feel full. I am not looking forward to foamies, dumping, or getting anything stuck.
I will keep everyone posted!

Hi Brian,
I know how exciting is to move from Stage 2 to Stage 3. I do remember I was very regimented in terms of my intake, as I tried to use material and info from the Dr. and Hospital to ensure I did note eat or drink anything I was not supposed to.
Best advice I got was to listen to your body. When it is full...stop eating. It will seem strange at first but you get better at it after a few months.
Looking forward to more of your posts!!
Best,
Bill
