I went back part time(half days) with a no lifting restriction at week 2.  I was very weak and it was a struggle.  At week three I felt much better but was still on half days.  I called the doc the end of last week ans asked to go to full time this week, week 4, because I felt much better and was getting behind.  She kept the no lifting restriction but alowed me to get back to full time.  I have labs this week and meet with her next week and hopfully get the all clear to work and start training BJJ again.

I do accounting for a living, so basically I am in a chair all day.  I was back at work in a week and change, but no lifting over 10 lbs for 4-6 weeks I think it was.

Biggest issue with fishing might be if you are using a boat, I know they can be "heavy" to stop when pulling into a dock and such.

The "shock" from a good sized fish could actually exceed the 10lbs especially when you consider the leverage from the pole, etc.  So catch little fish?   :)

Final thought...if you are having to hike a bit to your favorite fishing hole, that could leave you more drained than expected.  Make sure folks know where you are going, have a cell phone with you, etc.
Welcome to the Losers bench and good luck here in the next couple weeks as you go through final prep!

Hi Dan,

I am a little outside the norm I guess... One week after my surgery I was back at work, did 24 hours that week (last week) and this week I am back full time. I do constructiuon but mainly supervision so not too much physical stuff. I see my Doc tomorrow and don't plan on talking much about all my activity! I go stir crazy at home and have felt like a million dollars so why not conserve a few of those precious vacation days? And, I am really jazzed up about being able to put some real food in my mouth tomorrow!

I was back Fulltime the after a week.  It was difficult but I was able to manage.  The issue is going to be more of what your job is, I am a software dev guy so I get to sit and walk to meetings the whole day.

As for sitting on a boat fishing well that is probably going to depend on how you feel and the type of boat and conditions.  If you are flaying across a lake on a a Skeeter doing 50mph well you gonna be uncomfortable everytime you hit some chop and slam into the water.  If you are on a boat and class like conditions cruising along probably not as many issues.  Standing or Sitting?  Your biggest issue you will find is going to be hydration.  You need to be sure you drink drink drin****il you are able to handle larger drinks as dehydration is a real ugly *****

I had my surgery on a Tuesday, went home on Thursday and drove a ski boat in show skiing Nationals on that Sunday.  Fishing shouldn't be a problem, but you will be very tired for about 2 weeks after surgery from the drugs leaving your system.  I worked half days the first 2 weeks after surgery then full time, but I had a desk job.

Good luck and welcome to the bench,

Robert
