Down 2.8 pounds this week. I would attribute this number to a crazy, busy week. I don't think my feet touched the ground all week. I was on the move each and every day with softball, volunteer weed whacking and lawn mowing at the ball fields and just in general on the move all week. I actually have a relatively peaceful day today with my 1 1/2 year old and 3 1/2 year old neices up spending a night and day with us. I had forgotten how much work taking care of the little ones was. Thank goodness my wife and daughters are doing most of the heavy lifting! I am going to go up and whip up some pancakes for them in a few so that will be fun.
My Blue Jays are now 4-0-1 after picking up a win and tying the team who put one of the, if not the, top pitcher in the league up against us. It was a real nail biter that we could have pulled off with bases loaded and only one out in the last inning but unfortunately the two girls at the very bottom of our lineup both strike out. Oh well, we'll get 'em in the playoffs!! It has really been fun so far and we've got a great time. I am still also assisting my younger daughter's team and that is fun as long as we can keep the girls away from the dandelion picking! Too cute!
I tell you that I am a big ball of energy these days. From putting out lawn furniture, to doing yard work, to doing house work, to serving on my alumni board of directors, to attending league and congregation meetings, everything seems so effortless that I can just fly through doing things. Its hard to explain but I really do feel twenty years younger now and loving life. There is really nothing that I can't do!
Anyway, time to go make pancakes as my little ones are getting restless!

O K, I'm only going to say this once- GOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL! Alright, I'm done spiking the ball.
Work and gym this week, chef and taxi dad have settled in as a routine. I will be taking a short respite on Wed P.M. headed to Palm Beach to visit the in-laws with the wifey and no kids. My first extended consecutive days off since surgery (although I really don't consider that a vacation). and for a couple of years before that. The glory of self-employment,,yeah.
Totally hearing you on the energy level, Mike, it's just pouring out of me like a faucet. As hard as I work I get home and look forward to grab the gym bag or suit up for the bike path for a 3 miler. Unbelievable!
Involuntary restriction is an amazing concept. As my appetite returns, it is still impossible to overeat as long as I am putting in the right food. Dense protein fills me up rather quickly, and I choose that as the primary menu item rather exclusively. The rules are easy to follow- protein first, no liquids during or 20 to a half hour after the meal- order out sandwich plates and breakfast with -"no bread, please"-avoid the pasta, rice and potatoes, and keep the fried and buttery sauce stuff to a minimum (too much will make me uncomfortable sick feeling anyways).
My 9 month labs indicated that I was not taking enough calcium citrate. I was doing 1500 mg.a day 500 mg. at least 2 hours apart and not with the multis or iron, just like the program said. So now I just chew one 500 mg periodically throughout the day to get 4 or 5 in to see what happens. New guys pay attention! I eat a sh*tload of meat and cheese (for one of us WLS guys) and drink milk and I am still iron and calcium deficient. This is not a drill. I didn't come this far to be effed up for not following up on the supplements. OK I'm done barking. Suns out, garbage bin is full, and I'm ready for a 3 miler- maybe 3 1/2. Good luck!!

First, congrats Tim on hitting the goal! That, my friend, is the FART to beat all FARTs. And, yes pay attention to those supplements. Those things can kick you in the ass pretty quickly even if you are paying attention to them. I think it's important to be more vigilant that your doctor on these things. Request labs and monitor your own numbers. Don't accept that you are just within normal ranges. Instead, watch how your labs are trending.
For me, I seem to be struggling a bit although still within my comfort zone. For quite a while I held below my midway point of 180-190, and the last few weeks I've been consistently above the 185 number. I find that I am not always listening to my internal "full" cues and from time to time I'm eating enough to be uncomfortable after. My plan is to work specifically on that this week.

Down 8 this week, second week of postop phase 2 liquids. I see surgeon and nut Tuesday and hopefully transition to phase 3 diet. I feel great and have only run into fatigue after running around all day. I even worked 2 half and 2 full days last week which were not much of a challenge, mostly driving and supervising.
No pain after first night home, incisions are half way healed and itch but issue free.
I am so looking forward to putting some real food in my mouth, I dieted like crazy before the preop diet, then the last month has been shakes which are really grossing me out now. Tuesday will be like nirvana!

I am just a plodding along here with my weight loss. I am down 55 pounds and it feels very slow compared to other reports. But at least it is still going down and that's a good thing. Last week I ran in our 10K and cut off over 20 minutes because I jogged and fast walked it. I was happy for that. So I just feel like most things are going well. Something on the bad side, for some reason my blood pressure has gone up in the last month. Nothing that I can tell has changed but the doc wants to increase my meds. ick.

I want to thank Michael for those encourging remarks you gave me this morning. Your right! I have to do this now and I have to do this for myself. I have been retired for 6 yrs and to tell you the truth most of them have sucked. As my health and breathing deteriorated I became more of a couch potatoe and a recluse. I don't like going out in public because I'm ashamed of my fat a**. I can't be myself when I have to worry if I'm going to break someones chair or get stuck in their soft couch. And going out to eat and having to sit in a booth is terrible. Of course I don't have to tell you guys these things. There is nothing but good things to look forward too. Hopefully the thoughts of the foods and drinks I am giving up will disappear like my appetite. I've got to tell you something. Right or wrong I have my wife working a new recipe for a great shake for me down the line. It's going to be made from brats, sourerkraut, mustard and beer. What do you think? Should I franchise it?
You are all such an inspiration to me. I can't thank you enough. Your advise, your humor, your instructions, and most of all your friendship is most welcomed. Thanks again for letting me in.

I'm down 5 lbs this week and the high point was getting back in the gym and working out and actually having the stamina to do it. I'm developing a pretty good routine now which has improved my overall out look on things because I feel more in control of my life.
Tim - Congrats!!!!! I needed your talk about getting in everything you need. I've been really busy the last couple days and had trouble remembering to get in my calcium so I'll make sure I do it one way or another.
Jim - I have read your posts but haven't post to you yet but all I can say is my mom died when I was 23 and my dad died when I was 29 and when I hear people talking about troubles with their kids or parents I just say now you can still pick up the phone, send a letter or e-mail and attempt to make it right. Someday you might not have those options and it will be too late.
