The plastic surgery decision - LBL vs TT - vanity vs necessity

I'm gonna do a cross post on this one. Just wanted to get some different opinions. So I have come to a crossroads so to speak. I have got my nutrition and eating down to a science. I have mastered the discipline of going to the gym. I have sweated and pushed myself to the max to transform my body into the body I have desired for a lifetime. I set a goal for 190 which is a number I pulled out of thin air. I based it on a weight when I was 18 years old. I was thin and scrawny back then. Now I am 36 and after losing tons of weight and hitting the gym I have gotten pretty strong and have bulked up with muscle quite a bit. So here is the dilema. I am battling vanity vs necessity.

I have come across a sum of money. It is sitting in the bank and reserved for my plastic surgery. Now I already contacted a doctor in mexico to get his opinion on what procedure would be best for me. A lower body lift and inner thigh lift is what he recommended. My main issue is with all the extra skin around my abdominal region. A tummy tuck would get the job done. So whats the problem you may ask. Well - how vain should I take this plastic surgery journey. I have the opportunity to get a tummy tuck in Miami Florida now or wait and save up to get the Body Lift in mexico. What makes this decision difficult is that I am also trying to get back to college to accomplish a goal of being a pharmacist. If I wait to save up the money for mexico it would delay college again because I would have to work alot to save the money. I may be able to take a class or something but I would not be able to attend full time.

Then of course there is always the option of getting the tummy tuck now and later on getting the rest done but that would be multiple major plastic surgeries and I don't know if I want to put myself through all that. Needs vs wants. Do I really need a tight butt and inner thighs that no one will see unless I am naked? Yeah I want it, but do I really need it.

I think I am at a good weight right now and I think 190 is too low of a weight for me. While I could get there I would look too scrawney. I think Im ready to take the plunge and get the rest of the job done with plastics.

The link below is a link to a mostly nude semi censored shot. Yeah Im brave and its pretty revealing but the purpose of the pic is to help me decide what to do. If your offended by partial nudity than please dont click the link unless you want to be offended. lol.  Put yourself in my postion and pretend you were a 36 year old guy. What would you do? Well thats enough rambling on for me. Thanks for the help.

I think you should focus on getting rid of that disgusting sandy-looking grit covering your pecker! LOL That being said, I'm sure alot of us are in a similar situation as you. Your surgery was last summer? Are you done losing? I may consider this for myself in the future, but I will wait well into maintenence mode to see where the chips fall (not potato). Your stuff doesn't look medically necessary, as mine isn't either. My opinion is to get your education out of the way and when chicks are hanging on you because of your sexy job you will be ready to get buff. I haven't responded to your posts before, please don't take my sense of humor as any kind of insult. It's how I roll, sometimes. Just sayin'...

I think that you are expressing what many of us consider after WLS. The issues shown on your photos are the same as mine as well, although I use a cream to prevent the grainy sandy pecker syndrome. At 36, I'd imagine your decision is even harder than it is for me at 56 and in a long term relationship. After all, I have been naked in front of this person when all of my loose skin was filled up with fat.

The plastics decision I think is a personal one. And, as I debate in my own head, vanity is not necessarily the worst possible reason to do it. Ultimately, this is your decision. All I can offer is that there are others who also struggle with this same thing, and whatever your decision, if it is right for you, no one else's opinion matters.

While I have been spared the photos (I guess they are a form of porn!)
I have to agree with Ken
its not wrong to do it just to feel better in a swim suit, or to have less skin slapping around when getting down and dirty.  In fact that's cool.

In my opinion, I wouldn't get anything done in Mexico.
Yeah its great when it goes well, but sometimes surgery doesn't.... Then you want some rights as a citizen and a consumer.
Down there you are on your own.

I say, whatever you think will make you happy.

I do tend to think that the education should be a priority, to make for a better life down the road.  However, there is nothing like happines to help motivate you to do what you need to do to be successful.  As far as vanity goes, that is nothing to be ashamed of.  You do what is going to make you happy!!!!

Do some soul searching and make your decision based on what is going to make you happy.

I had to decide between the same two procedures. Did a couple of consultations but the surgeon that I went with really convinced me.

If I just did the tummy tuck. He said six months down the road I would have probably looked at my hips and lower back and regretted the decision.

I'm Six months down the road from my LBL and I absolutely love the results. The procedure not only addressed the stomach. But also took care of the lower back, hips, Butt and outer thighs.

I'm extremely happy with the results. I'm planning on having by Moobs done next month. I'll still have a flabby inner thighs as well as some loose skin on my biceps. But I can live with that.

BTW...couldn't see the pics...looks like they took it down.
