492.4: Tufts Medical Center Program Start 9/20/10
462.5: Lap RNY Surgery day 2/7/11

209.9 lbs Total Weight Loss
Had a slight up tick this week on the scales. It was opening week of softball and I was literally at the softball fields every day this past week in preparation. I wasn't able to get to the gym at all this past week and ate out a few too many times due to the hectic week. Made good choices for the most part but it was not ideal. But believe me I'm not fretting one bit over this and realize it is the normal ups and downs. I've got a new exciting week coming up and loving life!
We had our opening day yesterday for the Blue Jays and my girls did awesome. We won 5-1 and I couldn't have been more proud of my team as they played amazingly. Looking forward to a fantastic season!!
Had an amazing FART on Friday night. Took my girls to the local carnival and easily slipped on each and every ride in the carnival without any inkling of being squished in the seat. My youngest daughter and I rode the Pharoah's ride 5 times until we ended up in the very last seat of the ride (the scaries seat) and loved it!! What a great feeling to do these things.
Well, I've got to go and batten down the hatches as we have a Nor'easter heading into the area today.
Hope everyone has a great week!

Good Morning Gents,
My Stats:
High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Last week: 231
This week: 230
Total weight lost: 39
Modest loss of a pound this week even though it could have been more as I finish up my preop diet today. I will take the average over the last two weeks just to make myself feel better! In a little under 24 hours I will be getting my surgery and the real work can then begin.
See you all on the other side!
Brian

Brian,
Best wishes as you head off to surgery, you've already done an amazing amount of work and I know you'll do fine.
I missed last week. Only down 3 pounds for the 2 weeks, but feeling good and getting back into exercise. Had my 3 month surgeon visit last week and they were happy with me.
293 HW
280 Start clears
275 Surgery 1/3/12

Y'all have a great week.
Roger

Did you guys notice the -ish after my goal weight? When I had my first appointment at Tufts the psycologist asked me what my personal goal weight was. I tried to remember what I weighed when I was 17 and said 170-ish. He replied that it was a good idea to keep that number in a general sense, as it carries no guarantees. The important thing was to focus on controlling, remediating or eliminating the co-morbidities that the weight was causing to have a negative and unhealthy impact on my life.
So, for all intent purposes, I feel that I have already reached my goals. I've beaten type 2 diabetes, cholesterol and hypertension. I've lost damn near 135 lbs. as of this week in the process, and I have no doubt I am not done losing. I frequent the gym several times a week, can run several miles without pain or exhaustion and I have signed up for my first 5K road race next weekend, which is nothing short of a miracle considering what I looked like and felt like just a short year ago.
I guess this will leave my weekly post on a positive note- and a reminder to all you guys out there that there is a light at the end of the tunnel- and it isn't always a train coming in the other direction! Just sayin'....
