Way to go Mike I know how you feel. I ran my first 5k last week and it was great crossing over that finish line. I think I'm hooked now. Good luck on your next one. Keep us posted.

Thanks Mike.  It was an amazing feeling.  I had doubt during the first mile as I ran up the hill but kept chugging and didn't slow down the entire race.  What a feeling and I will definitely keep everyone posted!!

I guess technically it is monday now, but I hope that you guys will cut me alittle slack.

I have not posted on the sunday weigh in before, so here it goes.

448 - Highest weight
426 - surgery weight RNY 2/13/12
371 - last week
364.2 - this week 6.8 lbs lost this week
83.8 lbs Total weight loss

It has been an iteresting week.  I posted last week about so eating issues and I appreciate all of the responses.  It is nice to know that I am not the only person that has gone through this.  I had 3 days of fluids and am feeling much better, though I am still having issues with eating protein.  I am getting enough with protein shakes, but am frustrated that one day a certain protein will sit great, and then the next day that same protein will cause me to get sick.  I hear that it gets better over time, but I don't like the feeling.  But I am super excited about my weight loss!

Nice weight loss.  I always found to that taking my time and drinking those shakes slowly helped early on.  Good luck!

 355   8/1/11 - Start of Program
323  9/21/11 - Surgery Day (RNY)

I think my weight was 224.6 last Monday, almost identical to the week before it and then on Wednesday it dropped to a new low of 222.4.

Weight bounced up and down in between those all week but I am due for another bit to drop off soon, but 222.6 this morning.

Added Krav Maga class to my exercise routine, on Tues/Thurs last week and Wed/Friday I did the first two days of C25K!!!

I pulled something good in my left glute muscle, in that second run, I finished but was limping hard the rest of the day.  I tried stretching it out last night and it was still hurting a good bit, and so I am backing off the running for a few days until it heals.

(I may be over in exercise forum asking questions about it / confirming this is the right method to let it rest before runnign again)

Had 3 or 4 folks that had not seen me since this all began / we ran into this weekend, shocking them all!!  That is always fun!

Mike, CONGRATS on the weight starting with a TWO!!  I am eyeballing July for my first 5k, all you runners on here inspiring the rest of us!!

Sam that is great that you have started the C25K.  Take it easy in the beginning with your speeds.  That may have been why you came up lame.  I took it really slow in the beginning.  I think I maxed at 4.0 initially and nearly died trying to run the 60 seconds but it slowly but surely gets easier and the distances get better.  By the time my nine weeks was done I was running 4.5 for the full 30 minutes.  Now I'm running regularly in training at 5.0 for 4 miles three or four times a week with some short burst of faster times interspersed on one of the days.  Good Luck and listen to your body and remember you can always start the c25k over again when you are feeling better.

One difference is I am trying this in the "wild" instead of on the treadmill!  There is a great running trail about a mile from my office, so I am going over there on my lunch breaks.

So regulating speed is a bit harder, so NO idea how fast I am really going and I expect I "launched" too hard on that run.

Letting the muscle heal this week, MIGHT try my Krav again on Thursday, and prob wait to run again either at the gym under controlled speeds or another week or so.

That sounds cool.  Yup, you must have pushed too hard.  Take it easy in the beginning and build your muscles gradually.  Nice comfortable pace and the key is to not stop jogging even if you are at a near crawl...  Good Luck!
