Wondering
Hi,
I was 269 at my initial visit with my surgeon, am having RNY and hope to arrive at around 170 after my surgery on the 23rd. I had been as high as 296. I too have/ or had sleep apnea and after getting down to 237 find I don't need the machine anymore. I am not officially cleared or anything but I find that after not using it I am well rested, no headaches, none of the irritability or other stuff either. HTH, good luck with your surgery. Why Lap Band? Please do your research, lots of revisions due to slipping and other issues.

I was close to your start weight at the time of surgery. I am 5'10" and weighed 270lbs. at surgery. I had the VSG on 12/9/11 and I'm currently at 193lbs. at this point. I have to agree with Brian, PLEASE do your research on the Lap Band and the other options as well. I have read too many posts where people have had to have revisions done because of problems with the Lap-Band. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
Like the others, just want to encourage you to fully research the lapband - you might also want to check out the failed lapband group and talk to the population here that have had to have their lapbands revised into other surgeries after the fact. Remember - the lapband (according to the maker) is not a lifetime medical device intended for long-term implantation, and weight regain is immediate when it's removed.
But if you're set, then good luck on your weight-loss journey!
