Recovering Well
Gas pain is gone, bowels are working, taking pills with applesauce and eating ok. Lots of eggs and cottage cheese for first two weeks. I decided I wanted to supplement my protein. Doctor recommended milk powder, I did not care for that so I went with a walmart brand protein whey. 1gram sugar and 26 protein added to 1 cup of 1% is 33 grams half of what I need for day and taste great. Have not had eating issues everything is ok and I take 30 minutes to eat then stop then back to liquids 30 minutes after meals. Still tired and activity is half what is supposed to be but I do something for 30 minutes every day. Sugars have fluctuated 180-270 so taking insulin for first time 1-2 times a day. BP has been stable and low. Have this phobia I am eating too much or doing something wrong just concerned with long term success more than anything. Thats it pretty exciting stuff I know. Oh today I am two weeks out. Did not get weighed since 3/1 but I am down 25 pounds since then.
Hi,
Sounds like all is going well. All I can suggest is you do your best to follow the protocol for Post Op as prescribed by your surgeon and hospital. The food intake, especially, protein is key as it will help with recovery. The pain, especially the gas, will ultimately subside and you will start to feel better physically. Also, try not to get caught up in projecting long term concerns, just take it little by slow you will do fine.

Just take it easy and follow your doctor's recommendations. We're you taking insulin before surgery? I can tell you that my PCP being a bit conservative had me on insulin a bit longer than necessary, so be sure to watch sugar levels closely. There is a potential to have big drops in sugar levels with RNY diet and insulin.

I was on metformin and glocaphage did not go back on, Mornings my sugars are higher in evenings I am below what they want me to use insulin for. Afternoons it varies. Following diet to the letter and nutritionist is ok with course just need to walk more. I get tired a bit quicker than I thought but that is getting better,
