Sunday Morning Weigh In
This Week's Stats (lbs):
506.5: All time high 9/9/9 (WW start) - BMI = 63.3
492.4: Tufts Medical Center Program Start 9/20/10
462.5: Lap RNY Surgery day 2/7/11
304.8: Last Week 3/18/12
300.4: This Week 3/25/12 --> 4.4 Pounds Lost this week - BMI = 37.5
206.1 lbs Total Weight Loss
That ever elusive 2 on the front of my weight eludes me for one more Sunday Morning Weigh In... I can't kick though as I had a fantastic 4.4 pound loss this week. I have really been paying attention to my caloric intake and have upped my activity and exercise and you know what? It works. The scale is finally moving at a pretty good clip once again and I have no intentions of changing anything this week. I am going to watch my calories and keep up the exercise levels. I work on the 4th floor and had slipped back into a few old habits of taking the elevator from time time. On Thursday and Friday I did not step foot in the elevator once and I am pretty good about getting up from my desk every hour or so to get a coffee or water so that is quite a few trips up and down the stairs. Some of the "normal size" folks that usually go with me started complaining that I was killing them because I used to be the one they could count on for taking the elevator. No more my friends, NO MORE!!
I ran on Monday (4.25 miles), Wednesday (4.25 miles) and Friday (3.5 miles on a 0.5 Incline), did 30 minutes on the elliptical on Tuesday, also did a full body weight training workout on Monday Wednesday and Friday. All in all I think that I spent about 10 hours in the gym last week. Not counting walking at lunch and my treks up and down my building. Great exercise week! All of this training is leading to my first 5K on April 15th in Boston http://www.baa.org/races/5k/participant-information.aspx . I am so excited. I am running it with a bunch of friends and it is sponsored by the BAA (Boston Athletic Association - the folks who run the Boston Marathon the next day). It starts and ends at the Boston Marathon finish line and it is officially timed with grandstands at the finish, etc... I think there are 6,000 people running it so that is a bit intimidating but I am so psyched. I know that i can run the distance just not sure how much extra I can push on race day to get a decent time. I'll keep you posted here. Who'd have thought that I'd be doing this just a year after my surgery and after weighing 506.5 pounds not too long ago? It is almost like living a dream and the sky is the limit now... Already thinking of what my next race will be although the softball season is rapidly approaching with our draft tonight. All good stuff!!
Hope everyone has a Great Week and Think 200's!!

Upward trend continures. Know part of it is due to Sundays now coming on the "days off" portion of my work schedule. Will attibute the other part to the GF being here and I'm eating way, way too good! Need to go back to my own cooking!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
Funny how having the Sunday Morning Weigh In actually makes us make (or at least be conscious of) the decisions we make on Saturday. Knowing that I have to get up first thing Sunday morning and jump on the scale and be accountable to this forum keeps me on the straight and narrow most of the time!! It's a good tool for my tool!!
Highest: 407 lb
Surgery: 5-17-10
Last week: 183.4 lb
This week: 185.4 lb
Fluctuation this week: +2.0 lb
Total loss: 221.6 lb
Well the Saturday night monster got me this week to the tune of 2 pounds. Actually, it was not only the Saturday "night" monster, but also the Saturday "afternoon" monster as well. A couple of bad choices and a very late night heavy meal with desert played hell with my numbers this week. Would someone please instruct my friends and family that they must not have birthday celebrations?
I was actually pretty active this week, walking most days at lunch and limiting my lunches to healthier choices. I really do feel better when I do so. I need to remind myself of that on a daily basis. This week I will get back to my "urinary exercise" routine of walking to the restroom on the top floor of our office building. I got out of the habit when I got so sick and ended up in the hospital in January. Time to get that back on track and to make sure to get on my bike at least three times this week.
Have a great week guys!

I like your "urinary exercise routine". That is a great idea and it is too funny how we can easily fall away from these plans. It is most definitely the easier path to not make conscious exercise decisions.
I agree that our friends should be more considerate and not have their birthdays end up on Saturdays. Sundays would be fine because we have time for recovery!!
Reminds me that we have a ton of parties, bat mizvahs, birthdays coming up in April, May and June... But I don't fear these as much as I used to. Must be something with the confidence gained the further you get out from surgery!! Good Stuff!

Hi fellas!
Good to see some activity on the board today, but also good to know folks weren't parked in front of the computer and are out working towards a goal!
My stats:
High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Last week: 243
This week: 240
Total weight lost: 29
Loss of 3 this week. I have slipped a couple old habits back into my routine which are not helping but I am trying to be good about making it to the gym 4 or 5 times a week. Got some rather fantastic news on Tuesday, my surgery is officially approved. My surgeon was going to wait for this weeks appointment to schedule me but I got a call from her office friday and set the date for 4-23-12... Yeah! They told me keeping this schedule will depend on my weight check in 2 days, that I needed to have lost at least 10 lbs or they would have to push date back... they are in for a surprise!
Keep up the great work you bunch of losers!
Brian

You go Brian and show them whose Boss! Congrats on getting your surgery date. It is exciting and scary all at the same time but well worth it!!
Oh yeah, its been absolutely beautiful up here in Massachusetts all last week (up to 80 a couple days) and being someone who is parked in front of a PC all day working, the last thing I want to do when I get home on a nice day is get back behind it!! Today is a little gloomy with showers threatening and only about 50 out so I am working on my corporate tax return. I've put it off for long enough and just want to get it done already. Not too bad, just something I avoid at all costs...
Best of luck with your upcoming weigh in and on the countdown over the next month.

Stats:
Highest Weight: 315
Start Weight: 1/1/2011 305
Tufts Start Weight- May 2011: 285
Surgery Weight-7/5/2011: 265
Weight last Sunday Weigh-in: 175
Current Weight: 177
Goal Weight: 170ish
Lbs. gained this week: 2
Total loss from Start Weight: 128 LBS.!!
Current BMI: 26.9
A bump in the wrong direction (see yesterday's thread)and I can identify and weed out the culprits. (Hint: begins with a "C" and is usually white). Lets see what else there is...
* Whole milk in the daily iced coffee- I wasn't paying attention until I got one with ALOT of milk in it. When it tasted more like milk than coffee, the red flag came up. So skim milk it is from now on.
* A vodka on the rocks should be an exception rather than the rule- no more in the house- and not a "problem " sticking to that rule.
* Bottomless pit grazing- for lack of a better term- staying up too late is a killer for this kind of behavior.
* Gravitating to the carb cabinet to graze is probably my weakest point (a.k.a. "angel and devil")will wrestle those demons as the situation arises.
Wracked my rack at work this week- just bad enough to lay off the gym for a couple of days I did walk some and a little running too, didn't overdo it, I should be back on track this week.
On a more positive note I am fitting into size 33 waist Wrangler jeans with comfort and ease- not bad from a 42 this time last year- all large shirts are hanging on me a little- mediums are a little too tight.
Work is picking up (I am an insulation contractor) and large projects tend to help me avoid "business lunches" and create a distraction to keep extra calories out of the bank during the work day. A couple of weeks of fast paced production in a row will surely help me stay on track. I am looking forward to it.
I just want to thank all you guys for hanging around here- the support and comraderie I get here is invaluable. There is no one else near me in the flesh who is dealing with this stuff - and I need to be accountable for my actions- positive and negative -
Brian and Stoney and others who are getting ready to plunge-best of luck!
