201.7 lbs Total Weight Loss

Well I've officially "Dropped a Deuce".  It is really hard to imagine losing over 200 pounds after all of the years and years of diets, lapses, relapses and eventual collapses.  WLS has finally given me the Tool to be successful and I am forever grateful for being given this opportunity to reclaim my life.  I know I've said it before but I honestly feel better than I have in my entire adult life.  I've gone from wearing 7X clothes to a comfortable 2X.  That's a lot of X'es I've lost if you are counting!

Had a very good week as far as my diet is concerned and made it to the gym for three 2.5 hour workouts which ea*****luded at least a 3.5 mile run and complete body weight training.  What a feeling.   Two weeks ago when I started the complete body training I tried to do a sit up on the crunch machine and for the life of me couldn't crunch up until I cheated and put my legs on the floor instead of up on the loop where they were supposed to be.  Well I'm glad to report that in my second week I am now able to put my feet on the loop and use the machine as I am supposed to.  Man, my abs were burning and I didn't even know that I had ABS!!!

Went for my one year post-op appointment with my surgeon (Dr. Shah) this past week and she said that I was doing perfectly and learned that I no longer need to take my vitamins in a chewable version.  Cool!   She sent me to get some routine blood work after my visit and the phlebotomist was an older woman.  In the past some of the phlebotomists have had trouble finding a vein to draw blood and I mentioned this to her and she said I can't imagine why because you have many good veins and got it first try without a problem.  I said its a lot easier now that I've lost 200 pounds and she started saying Oh my God you look amazing.  Then proceeded to say don't lose any more weight because you are a "perfect man".  You don't want to be one of those men that are too skinny!!  It was too funny because never in my life have I perceived myself as being a "normal" or even near normal size.  The other older women phlebotomist in the room was eavesdropping and looked over after I said I was coaching my girls softball and basketball teams and asked me how old I was.  When I told her I was 45 her jaw dropped and she said that she would have guessed early twenties at most (God Bless Her).  I couldn't have imagine in my wildest dreams that I would ever get these types of compliments from complete strangers.  They made my week!!!  I was on such a high that instead of getting on the subway immediately below Tufts Medical I walked the mile to Downtown Crossing to catch a connecting train.  Something I would have never done 200 pounds ago.

Well enough rambling from me this week.  Spring is officialy here this week so get outside and move!!

Hope everyone has a great week!

First, Mike congrats on dropping the deuce. A flirting phlebotomist is almost as cool as being able to actually spell phlebotomist! You should be proud not only of your loss, but of your lifestyle changes as well.

It was a beautiful spring day here yesterday. I spent the day at a boardwalk/amusement area on Galveston Bay. Had a good day simply walking around enjoying the scenery and people watching. The highlight of the day was a ride on what they call the Boardwalk Beast, a speedboat ride in the bay. They say going in that you can expect to get wet, however that is a true understatement as (by design) the boat is maneuvered to literally soak everyone. We were so wet that we had to buy dry clothes before we could get back in the car a couple of hours later. The FART is that I would never have been able to even consider buying clothes in other than a big and tall store before surgery. Not many souvenir shops carry 6X-my-friends-went-on-vacation-and-all-I-got-was-this-lousy-tshirt tshirts. But, having a full selection of shirts and shorts was a real FART, not to mention feeding my new found inner clothes ***** mentality.

Have a great week guys and enjoy the springtime -- or as we say in Texas, the only two weeks of the year where you can enjoy the outdoors.

Hey all,
Mike, I had to get the Lysol out after reading your post. Whew!!

So, two more pounds down this week. I like seeing the widgets all rounded off!

I had two of my personal training sessions this week and I am switching my nautilus routine with toning weight and reps to free weights with more reps and incremental weight increases to "bulk up". Big difference. I also switched up my cardio from intervals at 3.0 walking/ 6.0 running to all running at 5.0. I've reached 2.5 miles in a half hour with little effort. Now that the weather is getting better, I hope to do some outside running and not rely on the treadmill so much.

Made a nice pork and veggie frittada for breakfast. I cook it all right in a frying pan and add egg beaters and low fat shredded cheese and feta on top. Then I throw the whole thing under the broiler until the cheese is brown. Yum.

That's it for this week- Good luck to the rest of you losers- Lurking as usual.....

Mike and the peanut gallery have officially made my day! LOL all around. Congrats Mike on your deuce!

My stats:

High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Last week: 245
This week: 243
Total weight lost: 26

Loss of 2 this week thanks to more trips to the gym, not necessarily better eating habits. My surgeon called me in for a weight check a week from Thursday, I am hoping I have insurance approval by then.

Have a  great week you bunch of losers!

Brian  (Watching the wheels of insurance slowly grind away).

Mike - Congrats on the deuce!  That is amazing!  I am creaping up behind you!  I can't imagine getting to 200 lost!  I hope to do that by the time I go to Hawaii in July...

For me, still just doing what I do.  No biking or working out for another 2 weeks.  Had lasik last week and Dr says nothing above a "brisk walk" for 3 weeks.  So I upped my eliptical time at the gym to make up for some of the loss of other activity and am happy to see an actual loss this week.  I was worried that the best I could do with this level of activity was to maintain.  YAY!

Otherwise, I am off to enjoy some more of the beautiful weather outside in Houston.  Because as KenHud said, we don't get to enjoy this weather for long!!!
