309.0: This Week 3/11/12 -->  0 Pounds Lost  this week - BMI = 38.6
197.5 lbs Total Weight Loss

That damn scale is truly my enemy!  Just kidding, as much as it frustrates me some times I don't sweat that thing any more and look at the positives!  I had a fantastic week of working out this week and feel great.  I ran on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for 3.5 miles, 3.5 miles and 4.5 miles respectively.  I also started to do a core workout that I found on SparkPeople.com in their Fitness trainer.   It consists of Single Leg Squats (on a leg press machine - cool twist to an old classic when done on the machine), Heal Raises (again on the leg press machine), Seated Chest Press (machine), Seated Row (machine), Abdominal Crunch (machine that nearly killed me but I liked it), Seated back extension (machine) and then some assorted stretching.  I also walked for 1.5 miles for three days at lunch.  So I got a great week of working out in and I consider it Good stuff!!

Nothing else too earth shattering this week.  Looking forward to the extra hour at the end of the day with daylight savings time and warmer weather heading into the area.  Basketball coaching is winding down with only two more weeks left and getting geared up for Softball immediately following so get ready for the trials and tribulations of a girls softball manager coming to a forum near you!!

Anyway, hope everyone has a great week.

A rainy week continues in Houston. Not that rain is unusual here, but we've had a record drought over the last year or so. We've forgotten what it's like to have the rain, but overall it's doing a good job of rehydrating the earth.

Oh, one other item. Had dinner last night at Tommy Bahamas Tropical Cafe. We had seen one in Orlando, but were not able to go there. Long story short, although I don't usually complain about prices, I do complain about value for my buck. And, based on that, this place is a real bust. Although my grilled veggie plate was good, the menu was short on choices (not just WLS friendly choices, but any choice) and everything was priced at about double what it should have been. Service was spotty at best -- I ordered a bottle of wine and when serving it, the waiter asked if I wanted a taste (in those words) rather than simply presenting the ritual taste. Then he asked my companion if he wanted a taste too. WTF? The waiter poured the wine in glasses in front of himself (at the opposite side of the table) and walked off leaving the filled wine glasses on the opposite side of the table...

Have a great week guys.

Then I'm sure the waiter will wonder why he didn't get a big tip.  Nothing worse than bad service when paying top dollar for a meal.  Oh well, they all can't be great!!  That grilled veggie plate did sound good though!!!

It was a good meal and very filling. Far more than I wanted / needed. I can see how some might think everything was "over grilled" as everything was black.i like that flavor, so no problem for me. However, my partner had a hamburger, the menu is mostly sandwiches, that he ordered medium well. Let's just say that charred was a far better description. Even the bacon on the burger had been charred.

 Mornin' folks!

My stats:

High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Last week: 246
This week: 245
Total weight lost: 24

Modest loss of a pound this week. I made it to the gym 3 days this past week and feel like I should be seeing more progress after last weeks stall. My old ways are creeping back in and I have not been as strict with my intake, must get back on track. This long wait for insurance approval is killing me!

Have a great week you losers!

A flatline this week for me as well, I weighed a couple of times this week and was flirting with 175, but no dice this morning. The excercise has been a little less than I prefer but a hectic week did not allow it. I did, however, make an appt. for three training sessions at the gym to start a free weight training regimen. I am going to ask her about pumping up some of the weight and loweing the reps to bulk my pecs and biceps. I'm hoping to fill out those areas where there is some sagging skin with a little muscle mass, Have any of you guys had success at this?

We are burying a good friend and neighbor today, my wife's cousin's husband. 62 years old, lived three houses up from me. He had an inherited genetic liver disorder that manifested a few years ago and was on the list for a transplant. I could barely get across the room at the funeral home as there were several people that have not seen me in a while and I was bombarded with comments about my appearance. I knew it was coming and was prepared for it, but I definitely didn't want to be the center of attention. This is just one more psych issue to deal with.
I had to bite it and buy a new suit at Men's Warehouse-$500 bucks- ouch! a 42 short and 36 waist. That also included shoes, socks, dress shirts, ties, belt- the whole ball of wax. I had none of that stuff so I guess it was a good investment. Hopefully the next time I need it will be a wedding instead of a funeral! I had no idea what my measurements were and I had the salesman write them down for me for future reference.

As the weather gets nicer and the days get longer I am so looking forward to the usual afternoon beach walks and I think the pooch is on the same page with that!

That is all for now, good luck all you guys out there and I'll be lurking as usual.

Sorry to hear about your loss and I don't blame you for feeling that way during the funeral.  On another note it must have felt amazing to get a suit at that size.  Talk about a FART worth bragging about!  I am also looking forward to the extra daylight to get a little more active at the end of the day and start throwing the ball around with the girls in the back yard.
