Hi to all:
How soon after surgery were you able to drive and how did it feel ?

I took the last narcotic on the evening of the second post op day and was driving comfortably on the afternoon of the third post op day.  I only had a vertical sleeve, not a bypass.

I had VSG also.  I could have driven on day three, but waited until day 5 or 6 before I ventured out driving.  Left it to my wife for the first 5 days.

Surgeon said I could drive as soon as I was off the pain meds, and I was off of those after 3 days...  No issues with driving when I started.  Was a little sore still, but didn't affect anything.  I could drive fine.

Hi:  Thanks guys, I'm also getting a VSG. The reason for the question, I have to drive my daughter to school, hopefully I'll have my surgery in the summer when school is out. A week later to drive is fine with me.

Have a Bless day.

I had RNY and was able to drive the day after leaving the hospital. But, I wasn't taking any pain med and wouldn't consider driving while on any type of meds.

But, 2 of my vehicles are stick shifts and one is an automatic transmission. I waited almost a week before trying to use a clutch. I was concerned about that putting too much stress on healing muscles.
