Hi Guys,

Just a quick question. I am now about 14 months post op. I am intaking about 1500 calories a day. Can anyone who is at that point or past comment as to what their daily intake is?

I'm a bit father along than you as I'll be two years in May, but I do not count calories at all and have not since I started this ride. I do watch protein and sugars, although perhaps not as closely as I should. My diet revolves around the protein, fresh fruits, yogurt and protein bars. Some days I eat more than others depending on what my body decides it wants. For me, at least, counting calories would be a disaster and would simply allow me to make bad choices based on a calorie count rather than simply eating what I know works for my maintenance. Don't get me wrong here, everyone needs to do what works for them. And just because I have taken this approach does not make it right for you. I just throw it out there as my personal philosophy. I've been pretty fortunate that I am not heavy craving carbs -- breads and pasta were my downfall. Now, I'm not interested in them...maybe afraid to get sick on them, but either way, I don't crave what was my biggest nemesis. I do allow myself some sugary treats, chocolate especially, in moderation. Again, not everyone can get away with that approach, but so far so good for me.

Best of luck...
Ken

Hi Ken,

OK-Thanks for the input. Like you said, different strokes for different folks!! I like counting calories as it helps me to keep accountability for what I intake on a daily basis. I focus on protein, trying to take in between 80 and 100 g per day. Also, lot of fruits and veggies. Still, I do have carbs and sweets, but try to keep it in check.

Again, thanks for sharing, I appreciate it!!

Best,
Bill Mac

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the response. Just one question, what is RMR?

I signed up for my fitness pal and have been trying to stay at 1200-1500 calories. My nutritionist suggested I try this app. My surgical date was 8/2/2012. It is kinda cool to get the help from the app.
