Six Month Followup Today

Today I had my 6 month follow up with my surgeon. I was "sleeved" on 8/30/11. All labs were good, except Iron. It was low at my 3 month follow up as well. Turns out, I bought the wrong iron, and wasn't taking enough of it. It has improved in the three months, but not enough. Got the right Iron today, and will be getting labs in another 3 months. Hopefully then I will be off of the Iron.

The interesting part of my visit was my Dr asking me if I would be willing to be interviewed for a program here in Houston (TX) called "Top Docs Houston". I said sure. They were telling me that because of my progress and "upbeat" and "open book" way of dealing with WLS, they wanted me to be one of the 4 patients to get interviewed. They are submitting my info, and I am told I should expect a call soon. Hmmm... I wasn't expecting that! Could be a very interesting experience. We'll see.

Anyway, other than that, I am rocking right along. No problems. No issues. Happy as can be! And I just calculated it, in 6 months, I have lost 63.6% of my excess body weight! (Stats show sleeve can expect average of 55%, but range is 33%-83%...) HOOO RAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!

Thanks for reading...

I was taking Celebrate Iron 18mg dose before.  They upped me to Celebrate 60 mg dose.  She said I was taking the right kind, just not enough.

Good going! I'd be interested I what iron was suggested to you also. I've had some issues with iron as well. I'm using carbonyl as it seems to be better for nausea and onstipation. Who is your surgeon?

THANKS!  Hardly a TV star, but I told my wife early on the process that I was going to be very open and advocate for WLS, so I guess here is my challenge, I guess....
