I have been fighting either " Head Hunger " or the real thing between meals. My sister who is 5 years post op indicated it would be fine for me to drink all the beef broth I wanted, as it is so low and calories and would be like water or tea...

any thoughts or corrections to this

A few thoughts in no special order...Don't go heavy on the beef broth.  Yeah, there are not much calories, but they are loaded with salt.  Too much salt and you want to drink more water...Which you are limited to.  Also the salt makes you retain water in your system.  What might be better is try some cooked or steamed vegetables with a small amount of salt.  Make sure they are not hard and you eat them to puree...and just small amounts (use the baby spoon).  Very little calories going that route.  In a couple of weeks you MAY want to try some Wendy's Chili.  You first need to try other meats like tuna, egg (salad), lean turkey or chicken lunchen meat.  Then you can progress to steak.  Steak can be very hard to digest.  Some RNYers can handle it early on...Others can not.  Some RNYers can never go back to it...Others can't handle it for awhile...Then try it 6 months later and are fine with it...Trial and error.
A simple rule with all foods...Tell the pouch..."Pouch we will be tryings something new".  You can never tell if the pouch is grumpy or not...You may not catch him in a good mood.  So you try a small amount of the new stuff...THEN WAIT 5 minutes...See if he likes it.  He will let you know...If it does not feel "right" down there...WAIT!!  Do not proceed...Do not pass GO...Do not collect $200.  Be patient...If you have eaten too fast or the wrong thing, the pouch will want to reject it.  You may or may not be able to throw up at this time...You could get "the foamies"...Spitting white foam up while the food proceeds to the intestine.  There is a lot of hit and miss the first 6 months.  After that it becomes a lot more stable and safe.  Later you start testing your limits and find out (after kicking yourself for pushing the limit) what that limit is.  Good luck on your journey.

I was allowed to strain cream of mushroom soup and that helped me a lot.

Have you tried drinking water.  Many times your body has a hard time telling you the difference between being hungry and thirsty.  My doc told me when I was hungry to have a drink, wait 20 minutes to see if I was still hungry.

My guess it is really head hunger, it took me over a year to feel truly hungry after my RNY

My best go-to snack is a string cheese and a big glass of water with some crystal light in it.
Or I might do two sugar free jello snack cups.

Then i go brush my teeth (some how that takes away the hunger)

Good luck.

I hear the term "head hunger" alot...  I had guessed that it meant the brain is on a schedule that tells you when to eat, breakfast when you rise, lunch at noon and so on...  Is this correct or does it go deeper than that?
