The MacRunner Way

A lot of folks have heard the old tale about the guy who did MacD's for 30 days and got really sick.

Not sure how many have heard of the guy who used MacD's for for marathon fuel and got personal best race?

The exercise part is definitely something to consider if you're having trouble staying on the eating program. Here's MacRunner's story:

Here's what I did: I ate only McDonald’s for 30 days and I set a PR of 2:36:14 at the LA Marathon on March 20, 2011. "Why did you do this"...you might ask? "Why not!"...I answer. I love running and I love McDonald's-might as well combine the two. Even better, we raised over $40K for the Ronald McDonald House Charities-CNI. Thanks to everybody for the support!

Runner's World is a little more accessible:

Did you feel any different training on this diet? Better, worse? More energy, less?

I feel as good as I've ever felt. I actually ended up losing a bit of body fat during all of this.

And your cholesterol levels actually improved.
Yeah! My doctor was very happy. My blood sugar was in line. Everything else was really good.

You spoke with your doctor before embarking on this 30-day diet?
Yeah. We agreed to do some blood tests to establish a baseline. My doctor said, you know, there's not going to be any long-term effect. He was a bit surprised with the latest results. I was surprised.

The only running I did when I ate McDonald's was to the bathroom! I count my staying away from the Golden Arches as a huge victory over my old bad habits. So far I have gone 40 days without a visit, soon I hope to integrate regular exercise into the plan!

Sounds good. I think the Mc food part is optional.

I know I have no desire to live off of ***tty food, but the exercise will cover a lot of bases.
