Well the scales were flat on this, the final week of my first year post weight loss surgery. I'm resolved to the fact that without a very strict low carb diet and a lot of exercise that I won't be seeing any big number losses on the scale week to week. I am ok with this as I feel the best that I have in my adult life and am still exercising more than I have been probably ever!! I'm going to post with a full first year's retrospective (with some photos) on my anniversary date (2/7/12). At least that's my plan!!
Hope everyone has a great week and Go Pats!!
P.S.
Try to keep your superbowl snacks in moderation and mindfully eat!!

A slight downward movement this week- I feel like this is probably the bottom end of the decent decline from last wee****il my metabolism gets around to kicking in again. So busy at work I wound up having a protein bar for lunch a couple of days this week. I did make it to the gym 3 times this week. I need today to recharge my batteries and do some gratuitous house work.
I got my 6 month lab results back. Iron levels are up but it says my absorbtion level is low. Do different types of iron absorb differently? It might be a question for the hospital. Everything else looks ok.
I have tons of energy lately. I feel pretty good and am getting used to the lifestyle changes I have adopted. Smart food choices grocery shopping and dining out have become automatic.
That is it for this week.. GO PATS!!

Surgery: 5/17/10
Last week: 180.0 lb
This week: 182.4 lb
Fluctuation this week: +2.4 lb
Total loss: 224.6 lb
A second week of small gain; however this puts me right at the center of my comfort level 180-185 lb mark. I'll need to watch diet closely to make certain the upward movement does not become a trend.
The next couple of weeks may be a test of sorts for me. I have a going away party for my son, who is moving to Virginia Beach for a new job. Then, Saturday morning, I leave for a 5 day vacation. Being off schedule can be an issue for me, so I'll need some extra vigilance during this time.
Hope you all have a great week and that your team recovers all the fumbles this afternoon.
RNY 5/17/10 highest: 407 lb - maintaining a loss of 200+ pounds and enjoying life
Well, the Super Bowl is finally here!!! I hate that 2 week time in between Championship games and the Super Bowl, but for the Pats it was a good thing to get Gronk healthy enough to play. I see a really good tight game but the Pats pull it out 27-24!!
In any event here are my stats:
High: 346
Surgery (12/27/10): 326
BMI=52
Last Week: 199
Today: 198; BMI 29
Total Loss: 148
I continue to be about 2-3 pounds of 200. Now that I am well over a year post op have resigned myself to the reality that biggest weight loss is over and am now in maintenance. If that is the case, I am very happy. I feel amazing physically and can do things that I have not been able to do for most of my adult life.
Still, trying to be consistent by doing the following:
Drink 64 oz water daily
Food Logging and keeping daily calorie intake at between 1300 and 1500
Exercising 4-5 times a week
One question for the group: In your experiences, when did your weight loss stabilize and go in to maintenance: 6 months; 9 months; 12 months; 18 months???
321.0: Surgery day 4/7/08
184.0: GOAL!! 1/13/09
173.0: 1 yr Surgiversary 4/7/09 and at 18 months
171.5: 2 yr Surgiversary (Dr. scales)
175.5: 3 rd Surgiversary (his scales in shorts and t-shirt)
167.6: Last week
166.6: This week (GF's scales)
Bouncing around within my tolerances. Because of still being a body short at work my schedule has been radically altered from the norm for the duration. Needless to say I'll have to adjust accordingly. No problem not going to work till after lunch. Problem is staying out till wee hours next morning! I'll be staying up way, way past my bed time. It has been a long time since I've done 12's.
As to the Super Bowl - may the better team win!
Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Had my first NUT appointment this week... reviewed basically everything I had already learned about pre and post surgery diet. Was taken off the aggressive diet I had been doing as it is too early to do thier "pre-op" diet. I continued to lose and have made the preop weight loss goal. I have managed to stay between 1500 and 2000 calories a day even with a few foods that I really enjoy. I also had an Upper GI done... ugh! Hopefully there are not to many more of those in my future! Will finish my preop appointments Monday, then it's on to insurance approval.
Keep up the good work you losers!

Going to enjoy the game today. We're having a few people over so it should be exciting.
Good news! I am now moving to the second shift at work. For the last two years I've been doing the 9 pm to 7 am shift and now I'm moving to the 1 pm to 11 pm shift. Hopefully this will allow me to get to the gym more often. Wish me luck!!!!!
