Last week: 182.0 lb
This week: 180.2 lb
Loss this week: 1.8 lb
Total loss: 226.8 lb

As I approach 20 months from surgery, I think I may change my weekly weigh in stats to say "weekly fluctuation" rather than "loss" or "gain this week." Somehow, it feels almost like cheating to say I've lost during a week when I'm really just bouncing around within my maintenance limits.

As for the blood loss issues, still no diagnosis. We're doing more tests this week. As the GI pointed out, we've looked for all the obvious stuff, now we have to begin ruling out the more obscure possibilities. This may include a series of one-off tests that look only for one specific thing. Frustrating and expensive, but less dangerous than needing 5 units of blood everything this thing, whatever it is, rears its ugly head.

On the positive side, I feel really good right now and have a lot of energy. I love that feeling!

Have a great week guys.

Morning gentlemen:
Well this week I thought I would do better than 1.2 pounds down considering that I did a whole lot of exercising last week. I want to keep up that same schedule (3 5km walks, 1 km swim, 2 fitness classes) and we shall see what happens.
My real good thing from last week is that I pretty much stopped taking my insulin for the past week. My sugar levels were crashing in the middle of the night and I discovered by NOT taking any insulin my late night blood sugars and morning sugar numbers were normal. That may help with the weight loss part too.
A little freaky here today because it snowed last night. I live on Vancouver Island where the weather is a lot like Portland. So snow is a rare thing for us - we all just hole up for a while.
Still I think the dog will like our morning walk in the white stuff.
Have a great week guys.

This week was GREAT!!!!

First, it was very busy at work, and was able to keep up with all of the demands without a problem.

Second, I was trying to get used to the eliptical at the gym, and was able to advance (in the last 2 weeks) from around 7 minutes a session without a break to doing 2 miles in 27 minutes, non stop!

Finally, my wife told me that I had to buy new gym clothes because my shorts and shirts were way too big. So today we went to Target and I bought 2 pairs of XL shorts and 2 XXL shirts (down from XXXL Shorts and XXXXL Shirts). I guess she was right, they were way too big...

Have a great week guys!

So a big fat WTF from doc this week. Up four pounds the day after last Sunday's weigh in and hasn't budged a tenth since.
Still unsure of the exact reason why, but the theories include sodium/water retention from starting testosterone injections, making some muscle, or a good old fashioned stall.

Maybe a bit of all the above, but I'm still betting on the sodium/water.
The diet is solid, and I've even got better at the exercise, so the plan right now is to hold the line and expect the body to eventually start dropping again.

Thanks to the information I get here, I have avoided saying "Oh, well I guess I lose" and going back to old habits.

Stay tuned. I am determined.

Congrats to the rest of you losers.

Don't be discouraged Doc.  I have had more of these weeks than I care to remember but the good news is that I've always come back and continued in the right direction (DOWN!!).  Your body is just adjusting and from what I've learned, any change in diet, exercise, weather, moon and star alignment, you name it...  will cause a stall.  It is all part of the trip.  Just stick with the basics and you'll be back on the loser's bench in no time.  Good luck and hope you have a Great Week!!
