Hey Guys,

Super botched aerial karate kick, but doing well in terms of mobility at 50/

Three month shy of 6 years out. Isn't surgery the greatest?

Best Wishes,

Dave

If I would have tried to do that I would have fallen flat on my back!!  Looking good Not Dave.  But I think I'll stay with my front snap kick...

 Thanks, Cabin.

Front kicks work, too. They're one of the easiest ones to get in and catch the opponent off guard.

Landing is important with the jumps. You might notice that my heels barely, if at all touched when I landed. Landing on the heels puts a lot of shock on the knees and other joints. Landing on the ball of the foot, limits a lot of it to the lower leg. Of course, you have to be light enough to pull that off, which is where the surgery comes in!

Thanks Mike. Never thought I'd be able to move like this at any age.

I had been a yo-yo dieter and got this thin a couple of times during my 20's and 30's, but I guess nothing works like keeping it off and keeping at variety of fitness activity. I'm a lot more mobile and considerably more flexible than at any previous time.

Sometimes wonder if the "too thin" thing is more of a looks preference than anything? I seem to feel better the thinner I get. Or maybe I just notice it more because of the Karate and other activity that involves some speedy motion.

Best Wishes,

Dave

I totally agree and have had a similar path with yo-yo dieting but have never exercised as much during any point in my life.  I will have logged 24 miles between jogging and walking this past week.  I still have a way to go to hit goal but feel better than ever.

Funny what you say about getting "too thin".  One of my closest friends warned me before surgery to not get "too thin".  I didn't even really know what that meant and since I had tried and failed at so many weight loss attempts in the past just brushed it off as something that would never happen to me.  Now I want to feel what "too thin" feels like!!   I enjoy looking in a mirror and seeing my collar bones!  Hope that makes sense!!

It makes a lot of sense, Michael.

It seems to me that if anything makes a person feel "old," it would have to begin with excess bodyfat. Speaking totally of physical and mental feeling. The wrinkles that could occur as a result are another story!

It feels to me as if there's some connection between bodyfat and muscle soreness, lethargy, etc. Probably something to do with increased inflammation caused by the fat. Not sure, though.

Makes sense to me and I wouldn't be a bit surprised.  Just once again reaffirming the decision to have WLS in the first place.  Have a Great Weekend!
