Stalled on the scale this week but I totally expected it so I'm not bummed. That's how this ball rolls for me. I survived the wife's Christmas party Thu. and continued getting compliments and encouragement from the general public.

It's amazing how regular excercising can become contagious. I feel so good when I get done with my workouts that I constantly think about the next time. I can remember making excuses to avoid the gym but now I'm comparing notes with my 15 year old daughter about which Nautilus (sp?)machine we like the best and which program on the treadmill is working for us. I can see the routine becoming automatic and working my schedule around it instead of the other way around. Must be the endorphins or something!

I have decided to wean myself off of the chewable vitamins and D3. I bought way too many of them and as I can easily swallow pills they are becoming increasingly disgusting to chew first thing in the morning. I even bought some calcium citrate in pill form at GNC while I was at the mall last week. I've been using Celebrate chewables and Bariatric Advantage chewy bites and will mix them up a bit.

I have given myself and my family the best Christmas present ever and that is the gift of health, and the perspective of an extended lifespan. I have a much better chance of seeing grandkids and enjoying retirement instead of looking forward to declining health and illness. I will not look back at what once was, and only look forward to what will be. Sounds corny, but it's the truth, and I need to keep reminding myself of these insights to keep myself on the right track for thge long haul. I'm just gettin' started!

Merry Christmas!!

p.s. Mike- any word of a support group meeting after X-mas in Plymouth?

Hi Tim,  Great post and I love your newfound perspective on things.  It is a great feeling to enjoy the gym.  Something I could never have imagined in my previous condition.  Everything is easier now!!

As for group at Jordan Hospital, I think these are on the 4th Thursday of the month which would be this coming Thursday (12/22).   Bill had asked me about it last night and I said that since we had gone to a group in Brockton last week that I wasn't interested but if there is a group this Thursday and you plan on attending then I will see if Bill wants to head down as well.  Can't get enough of those support groups!!  Let me know.

Sorry I missed last week guys. Just had a lot going on with work and Christmas stuff!!  All good though. I can see that 100lb mark just around the corner! I was working hard to hit that by Christmas, but I'm OK with hitting it after the first of the year. I seam to just be on a steady 2-3lb loss every week. I need to pick up the excercise a bit and that might improve my numbers.

Nice to see new guys jumping on board with us. Welcome to you. This is an awesome place for support with a bunch of guys that have a great deal of knowledge and just all around good suggestions.

Catch ya all next Sunday---Bill

WOW!

So, as of yesterday morning, I had only lost 1.5 lbs this week.  Pretty sure I was doing the stall thing.  However, I had to weigh myself twice this morning when I found that I had lost that much!  Had a great time last night.  Went out to dinner with friends, then drive through River Oaks (very ritzy neighborhood in Houston where all the rediculously rich people live... Like George H.W. Bush) and looked at Christmas Lights.  Was a great time.

Still sick.  Was feeling a little better since I got my steroid shot and antibiotics yesterday for my upper respiratory infection.  Now feeling pretty puny again.  I think I may have over done it last night.  Oh well...  You only live once, right!?!

Well, sounds like a great week all the way around for you guys.  I will be out of town for Christmas next weekend, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to "Weigh In" next Sunday on time.  If not, MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HANUKKAH!  Hope everyone has a blessed holiday and I'll talk to ya'll soon!

I’m staying within my comfort range. I’m very happy with this result because life has been full of holiday parties and I’ve been concerned that the season might derail my progress. But, I’ve given myself a 5 lbs range for my maintenance mode and am very glad to be staying within that weight. The body seems to know where it wants to be.

Last night was one of the big company Christmas parties. It was a buffet with lots of rich foods and everyone was piling their plates high and going back for seconds. I was very comfortable with my single plate that wasn’t close to full. The meal was satisfying and I didn’t feel at all self-conscious or out-of-place with my food choices. In fact, I wasn’t able to finish the entire plate and “peter pouch" let me know when it was time to stop.

Holiday wishes to all.

Another week with the scale headed in the right direction. We had our company Christmas party last Sunday. It was a good time for everyone and no one made an ass of themselves. Well, here's the numbers for the week.

Highest weight. 391

Surgery weight. 387

Last weeks weight. 253

This weeks weight. 252

Total weight loss. 139

Not a dramatic weight loss for the week but I'll take it.

62 to go till I make my goal.
