Howdy all on this fine week before Christmas and Hanukkah!! Hope that the Christmas parties have been treating you well! I had another great weight loss week. I am continuing to run and have been pushing it a bit more at each of my runs. I am now running the full 5K distance on Mon, Wed & Friday with ever increasing speeds. I am really enjoying running and have been noticing that my legs have become muscular and that my core is shrinking like crazy. It must have been happening gradually and not too noticeable on the scale but I can really notice it now in my stomach and core. I was actually able to put on a pair of 48 jeans last night and although I opted for wearing the 50's for the sake of comfort, I was able to button them and am amazed. I was at one point not too long ago where I was wearing 7X pants with a stretch waist. Not even sure what that correlates to in inches but am pretty sure that it is 70+. Again, what a feeling.

Took my wife to Trinity Repertory Company in Providence last night to see a radio broadcast of It's A Wonderful Life. It had a 5 person cast which played all of the parts with the premise that they were doing a Christmas Eve Radio broadcast of the classic movie in 1949. It was a very small theatre with great, comfortable seats and we loved it. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a bit of Christmas spirit and in the Providence area!! Loved, Loved, Loved it!!

I've got a busy day today with two Hanukkah parties, a wake and a birthday party with a little hope of catching some of the Brady/Tebow matchup this afternoon. Should be pooped by the end of the day. I'll make sure that I have enough protein shakes packed to survive the day!!

Well to my Jewish friends Happy Hanukkah as you begin to light the candles on Tuesday night. To my Christian friends Merry Christmas. To anyone I may have left out Happy Holidays!! Good luck and plan out your attendance at holiday gatherings / parties!!

Since I have little kiddies and will be a bit pre-occupied next Sunday Morning (Christmas Morning) if anyone would like to get a jump on the Sunday Morning Weigh In then please feel free to do so and kick it off. I'll eventually get online but not sure what time and don't want to hold anyone up!!

Will edit in the numbers tomorrow when I get back to my "home" scales.

If it is okay I'll lead off next Sunday as no kiddos are involved here.  Have to be "on call" for work so I'll be around the house anyway.

331.0: All time high 3/10/08
321.0: Surgery day 4/7/08
184.0: GOAL!! 1/13/09
173.0: 1 yr Surgiversary 4/7/09 and at 18 months
171.5: 2 yr Surgiversary (Dr. scales)
175.5: 3 rd Surgiversary (his scales in shorts and t-shirt)
169.6: Last week
169.8: This week

Happy to see I'm holding my own on the scales.  I'll admit to eating some crap this weekend at the lady friends house.  Damn freshly baked chocolate chip cookies!

Hi guys,
I'm new on this forum, and appreciate the fact there is one just for guys.  We seem few & far between elsewhere on OH!  I'm almost 6 weeks post op RNY and feeling pretty good.
I'm very happy with the scale losses and size differences so far.  I do feel a good deal of nausea when I eat or drink almost anything in the last week though.  Feels kinda like the flu, but no vomiting at all.  I'm trying to keep the liquids coming in, and focusing on protein. Avg protein is 45-70 g/day so the clinic said I'm doing okay.  Clothes that havent fit for years are now falling off, so I am excited about that. Old waist 48-50 inches, now 44 inches. Thanks for doing this board so we can see what othere dudes are up to (or down to).

Welcome to the board. This is a good group of supportive guys who understand both WLS and testosterone, so don't be afraid to get involved and ask questions when they come up.

At six weeks out, the nausea could be a lot of things. Not sure what you are eating, but I would auction you to eat very slowly and chew everything way more than you think is needed. My biggest issues were simply lapsing back to the old three chews and swallowing. It still gets me if I am not careful.

You may also be eating too much at a sitting. Try to eat smaller amounts more often to keep the load on the pouch as small as possible. At first you really have no sensation of "fullness" as you used to and therefore can easily overdo.

Good luck and enjoy the changes!

Welcome Roy.  As others have said keep mindful eating/drinking and that nausea feeling should pass.  Buckle up and enjoy the ride of your life!!

Roy, welcome to the group and you seem to be doing great!!

Noticed you had RNY surgery (like me). While I've never had a stricture, that's something that's happened to a lot a guys I know. When it happened to them they said it started out as nausea and then had problems getting food or water down.

If the nausea starts inferring with you ability to eat or drink, see the doc ASAP.

Highest: 407 lb
Surgery : 5/17/10
Last Week: 183.4 lb
This Week: 183.6 lb
This week +0.2 lb
Total loss: 224.4 lb

Another week in maintenance paradise from the scale standpoint. But I have to admit that it has been a week of what might best be called "grouchy pouch syndrome." It seems like about half of my meals did not agree with the pouch this week. Nothing major, just pain in the stomach for maybe half an hour after eating. The odd thing is that I really had nothing unusual or even off of my norms. I've been through these before and it seems somewhat cyclical so I'll wait it out to see if it ends again. This new digestion process is still a bit of a mystery to me.

With the holidays fast approaching and a houseful of company on the way, I'm ever cognizant of food issues and guess I need to be. But, I am aware that I need portion control and with that I will be fine.

Have a great week, guys.

Hope your pouch settles down for you.  There have been some stomach bugs going around the Northeast this past week or so, so who knows if you ended up with a touch of something!!  Anyway, hope you are feeling better!!
