181.3 lbs Total Weight Loss

Not too bad of a week for weight loss. I will take it!! I have been weening myself from the shakes over the past week and trying to eat more real food that is healthy! So far so good!! I continued my post C25K training by running the last day of Week 9 program (30 minutes) at .2 mph faster (4.7 mph) on Monday and Wednesday. On Friday I actually ran the full 5k distance in just over 40 minutes and the last 10 minutes of the run was run at 5 mph. I felt really strong and could hardly believe that I could actually run a 5K now without dying. Keep in mind that I am still 325 pounds and doing this. Imagine what I'll be able to run when I get to Goal!! It is truly mind boggling! So if any of you out there are saying that I can't do this then keep the mantra in mind that I learned from some very wise men on the Men's Forum: "Fat Boys Quit". It has really gotten me through the hard parts of this training and has helped me to succeed. Reflecting back 10 weeks ago when I started I could hardly get through 60 second run without feeling like I was literally going to die. I know its been said a thousand times but if I can do this then anyone can do this!!

Aside from just the daily grind at work, nothing much to report over the past week. I put out my Christmas and Hanukkah lights and inflatables. My neighbor gave me her inflatables so I literally have 12 of these things on my lawn. My kids love it and I guess the kid in me loves it as well. My wife thinks I'm nuts!

Hope everyone has a great week and doesn't get too stressed during the holiday season!!

Well, it looks like I blew right past "Onederland" this week .  Now when I look down on the scale I can actually see my "junk" without the aid of a mirror.  The food choices have been pretty constant lately, although I bought a package of Ak-Mak stone ground whole wheat crackers and have one occasionally with a little cashew butter on it for dessert. I know, carbs, but it beats all the other **** that is stored right next to it in the "carb cabinet". I would just as soon ditch all of that stuff if it wasn't for the rest of the family. They are actually paying attention to carb intake since they rarely see me cooking it or ingesting it. When I cook family meals I don't  usually include refined carbs in the menu and also don't include it when I'm in charge of the grocery shopping. I let the wife buy that stuff.

The kids have been attending the gym with me in the afternoon when our schedules allow it and it's great to see them interested in physical fitness and motivational for me.  I have been increasing the weight  on the nautilus machines and am feeling the difference, slowly but surely.

I had my 5 month follow up at Tufts this week with the psycologist and the Nutritionist.  He (shrink) brought in 2- 45 lb. water bottles for their dispenser and had me hold one in each hand and said "this is what 90 lbs. feels like to carry around all day. That gave it a little perspective. He calculated that I have lost 33% of my total body weight and when I get to 190 (6 lbs. away) I will have met the expectations for the bariatric program that I am in. He figured that I will be losing for another 6 to 12 months and I figure I will FART that one out by mid Jan 2012. My goal is 170 and seems attainable.
Still hard to wrap around that because it has happened so relatively quickly. What a difference a year makes. The NUT said I will need to increase my trips to the gym and up my protein in the coming months. I guess that means a shake or protein bar between meals.  Doable.

Hope everything goes well with you guys this holiday. I want you all to know how important this forum is to me and that I am lurking on it daily.  There is no one around me geographically that I know personally whom is experiencing the similar journey that I am on and although I am getting nothing but positive stuff from the general public I feel a certain bond here that is filling a void. Thanks for listening.  (p.s. sorry if I grazed anyones nads with my response to" Kitty", couldn't help myself....)
Just sayin...

You're doing all this at 325!  Holy Crap.

This week was a *****!  Our City Secretary's husband passed on Tuesday.  I hate inquest runs when I'm familiar with the people.  Made for a suck ass week around the office.

Had a small SBD type FART this week.  Had little too much slack in my duty rig so had to cinch it in a little bit.

Okay, I've got X-mas shopping to do and this is about the only day I have that I can go to Tyler and get it done on.  Wish me luck fellows.  I'm going in!!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Had my company Christmas dinner last night at Morton's Steakhouse. Yes, I have a great boss. Good food, although between the appetizer, salad, steak, dessert and wine, I overdid a bit. However, I did control my portions leaving much of every course untouched. It's good to be able to enjoy the event and although I did eat more than normal, did not get crazy.

Have a great week guys.

Ken,

I have heard nothing but great things about Mortons, but never been there.  I was, however, discussing with my wife a few weeks ago that since we both are eating so little these days,  I have decided that I am not going to worry about how much food costs anymore...  Instead, I am going to pay for the best food (filet mignon and such) because if I am going to eat very small amounts, then I should eat only the best!

With that being said, might have to take the wife to Mortons to try it out as a treat soon...  Who knows...

(BTW - Where is the Mortons around here?)

We went to the Morton's at Post Oak and Westheimer across Westheimer from the Galleria. I believe there is another as well. The food was excellent, although extremely pricey. Glad I wasn't picking up the tab. But, steaks for nearly $75 a la carte in addition to $13 side dishes can add up quickly. For my money, Ruth's Chris is far better, although not much less expensive I guess. It's probably just a personal choice, but having spent a lot of time in Louisiana, Ruth's Chris was the New Orleans "local" at that time and had several older locations steeped in tradition if not butter and other fatty favorites.

I'm fixing to date myself here but I can remember back in early 80's going to the original Haufbreaus that was off Shepard at 610.  If was SRO by 11:00 for lunch and same around 4:30 for supper.  Primo!

You can bet that the steak was tastier and cheaper, too! Oh, and while I wi**** were not so, I can remember long before the early 80's. Well, actually most of the 70s is a bit fuzzy,

Well here I am 8 weeks out and I have stalled. I knew this would happy but I would rather it be later than sooner. I guess it is a point of eating less (I am not sure how because I don't eat that much now and exercise more.) Currently I have been doing three 90 minute walks a week and one 90 minute gym workout. I was thinking of adding some swimming time and see if that helps but it is frustrating because I know is three weeks I go back to working 10 hour days and finding workout time is going to be rare.
Despite not losing any weight for two weeks my clothes are fitting much looser. And over all I feel really good. My FART for the week was that when I was up on the ladder putting up our Christmas lights on the house, I realized that for the first time in years I am below the maximum weight restriction of the ladder.
I will do better for next week.

I have had two stalls and one lasted two weeks, the other around a week.  However, I notice that my inches lost are pretty slow until I get a stall and then they melt off while the scale stays the same.  Luckily, I am able to view stalls as a greaat thing, not a bad thing.  I actually look forward to smaller stalls because they make the biggest difference in physical appearance.

That being said, I almost went insane over my two week stall!  I keemp second guessing myself over whether I was doing something wrong or needed to change something.  Hang in there buddy.  I am sure it will work out the same for you and you will see that scale start moving in short order, after losing the inches your body needs to keep going...
